After the Game Boy emulator for the TI-84+, the Game Boy Color emulator for the TI-Nspire calculators and a TI-89 emulator for the Nspire in the works, Calc84maniac has decided to start working on a z80 one!

In this video you see the 83 Plus emulation in action, with no speed throttling. I test various programs such as MirageOs, Desolate and even his two TI-83/84 Plus projects F-Zero and a new Super Mario clone. It works with both TI-Nspire and 84+ keypads, but on the former, the key layout is pretty weird. You can swap them during runtime.

This emulator will require the application Ndless, found on www.ticalc.org, to be installed on your machine. It's a tool to jailbreak your TI-Nspire.

Since it's still not very stable (crashes during GarbageCollect and requires the removal of batteries to exit) no download are available yet. However, stay tuned for updates soon!

UPDATE: replaced the rickroll video with the real emulator video. So basically, unlike the previous news, this news was real.

It was just a question of time but I was not expecting THAT fast. Great work.

And calcmaniac84 is monopolizing Nspire great projects. He will indeed be in history in Nspire first 3rd party software steps.
I am waiting for the right moment to put in WikiTI. :D

I had a concern: would such 3rd party emu take much more battteries than the built-in Nspire one? Or could it potentially take less?

It could probably take less, since it is faster. I could maybe add an option to change the clock speed to increase battery life, and same for gbc4nspire

It would be cool ^^, cuz I noticed the Nspire is really a battery eater when running Ndless stuff XD

In built-in 84+ mode it always seemed less bad, though.

Also 6666 posts! finally! :P

That would be a nice feature to prolong batteries use.
And I still have to test how well rechargeable batteries last...
