They'll probably keep updating it for a while with the new features just not bothering with the bug fixing on regulars
I currently don't do much, but I am a developer for a game you should totally try out called AssaultCube Reloaded download here https://assaultcuber.codeplex.com/

Ther next OS for the 84 will probably have downgrade protection and a 4096 bit key

They can't downgrade protect the PROM.

Luckily, downgrade protection is impossible because the boot code can't be changed, and changing the keys is impossible because the boot code can't be changed.

Yeah I'm thinking more about that, rather than new features.

We should probably talk in some type of cipher so that TI doesn't get any ideas. Maybe we could discuss the cipher in the Spam section.

big keys for encryption decryption? We could make it an AES style encryption. highest bit level possible...
*ruler goes off to think about this

At least they didn't slow Output( down :P

But I don't think it's too bad. I mean we can still use assembly programs, right? Just really sucks how TI took the time to kill third-party OSes.

I don't think their main goal was to stop all of our games - it was probably something like making sure that every allowed OS version has PTT, that we can't make fake PTT/RAM clear screens, and stuff like that.

Oh, that might explain it. I always forget about PTT.

I wonder... if PTT is so important in schools, does this means schools might eventually ban the regular 83+ and 83+SE in tests eventually? (Since they do not have any PTT feature)

I think TI cares more about PTT than schools normally would... And as you might know, TI no longer sells these calcs at all - probably because of that reason.

They still produce and sell 83Ps, but not the SEs.

Ah, that makes sense.

I've never had a teacher force RAM, Archive, or MEM Clear my calc, and I have never had one activate Press-To-Test either.  I don't know why it's such a big feature for TI.
