Yepp, this was a pretty nice piece of work. Though, it had to be pretty thorough to fool some of the people that it did. :)

I made one mistake and critor found it. I didn't add an extra little bit to the OS that TI usually does.

Not a chance. (At least not by me) I hardly have enough time to update zStart let alone make a new one. And besides, I don't have a CSE.

False :P

Actually it would probably be something like OS 4.16MP :P

If Output/Disp were so slow in 2.71MP, imagine how they would be in a color version of that OS.

Also the HP Prime is as unstable as 2.71MP when you try to edit a 400+ KB program O.O

It was indeed. For whatever reason, after TI signs the OS they add "   -- CONVERT 2.6 --" at the very end. I forgot to do this.

LOL you'd actually have to look with an hex editor for this one. XD

Actually, you don't. Try opening an OS with notepad and you'll see what I mean. (.8xp files are binary though)

I just realized something... this "OS" is actually better than TI-Nspire CX OSes in one way O.O

On OS 2.71MP, you can still run small ASM Flash apps from 15 years ago. Yet, on the TI-Nspire CX, most programs will stop working 1 or 2 OS versions later. On the HP Prime it's even worse because some programs like MacBernick's game only lasted 1 firmware and on Casio calcs they won't even last accross hardware revisions.

And if go back 1 version earlier (2.55MP), then you can pretty much run anything from the past 15 years, even smaller TI-82 Stats/83 BASIC programs and if TI-Connect allows it, TI-82 programs by renaming the extension like in the TI-Graph Link days. O.O

The hardware may be terribly outdated and overpriced, but the 83+/84+ series really is great for programming because of that.
My projects

I remember in 2004 when I downloaded many TI-82 BASIC games, renamed the extensions from 82p to 8xp (or maybe it was 83p?) then sending them using to my TI-83 Plus Silver Edition using TI-Graph Link and it worked like a charm. I don't know if that trick still works with TI-Connect and TiLP so perhaps this rules out USB calcs, but if it does, then even programs from 20 years ago would send and run.

It's a shame that they can no longer keep compatibility intact when updating OSes nowadays. A lot of work gets wasted that way if the authors of programs move on in their lives.

^I seem to recall the ability to do this less than 6 months ago to send 82 programs to my 84+SE, using a silverlink cable.
Keep trying.
