It seems that despite Omnimaga not being completly exclusive to calculators, members who choose to stick around after moving on from calculator programming are not immune to time. Today, we are undergoing staff renewal once again, with the departure of two of our formerly active Coders Of Tomorrow: Necro and Cooliojazz.

With the departure of Necro, another page of Omnimaga history is being turned, as we lose our oldest staff member in term of hiring date (Early 2006) and with his departure from our team, I remain the only remaining Omnimaga staff around who was alerady staff on the old Invisionfree board, which closed in 2007. On the verge of calc retirement, Necro was hired during Winter 2006 as the first PC-only programmer in the programming group that was just formed a few months earlier. He remained loyal to the community for over 4 years, most of which were during his time as staff here. However, time went by and his school studies no longer permits him to be active enough anymore to remain in our team.

As for Cooliojazz, he remained active and contributing on the forums during the entire Summer 2009, while working on a TI File Editor for the PC, but eventually became inactive on the forums due to a loss of interest.

Because with an Omnimaga Coders Of Tomorrow position comes responsibilities (see below), this is why I felt it was better to let them go.

Then comes staff renewal time. As you might have noticed, despite inactivity of some staff, our forum activity recently increased to the same level as the old forums (or close). Most of the activity came from both our remaining active staff and an increase in new members (and the return of old ones). If anyone is interested in joining the programming team, you only have to meet the following conditions before you get hired:

-Have 50 posts
-Have been active posting for at least one month
-Be involved in at least one of the following:
 *Calculator programming (games and utilities)
*Computer programming (Windows games and calculator tools)
*ROM hacking (preferably for console/handled emulators)
*Music creation (preferably your own music, not remixes, as these are not allowed in our download section unless they're remixes of my songs or video game songs)

Once you have met these conditions, your application is then processed and here are the responsibities as Omnimaga staff:

-Remain involved with at least one of the four things above.
-Keep a minimum of 10 posts per month from September to June and 5 from July to August. (posts in Randomness and Intro forums doesn't count)

As Omnimaga staff you get the following:
-A sub-forum for each of your calculator game/utility, PC game/software or ROM hack projects.
-Global moderator priviledges (in case of mass chaos)
-Early access to our staff forum and the eventual Calculator games cheats/glitches/walkthroughs website section.

If you want to apply, please PM me on the forums. Your staff application will then be queued then processed.

Yeah true. Well, in certain ways, another page was turned lately because it seemed this year is the opposite of 2008. We have most great projects being released or in the works, popular contest, lot of new members and skyrocketing activity, to the point where we reached the activity levels we had on the old board. On top of that, the new userbase we got seems nicer than the one we had on the old board.

Heck, on the old board, we had 55000 posts, but not much members than we currently have, and it remained open for over 2 years. I hope staff continues working on their projects and that members comes with new stuff too. :)

Same here.  I'm not sayin a word about my new years resolutions, but I will say this is the first year in a long time that I've felt courageous enough to make them

As for staff hiring, there will most likely be at least two news listing the new staff, because two of the staff who applied hasn't been active on the forums for long enough, so there's some sort of delay before they can join. First new staff will most likely be announced in the next day or so. The others will be around Jan 15th, same if more people applies. If people applies later, they'll be announced as they do so. Hiring time won't expire, but make sure you apply fast enough in case too many people applied and we decided to add a cap.

The ones who applied can also PM me project names they want subforums for. Note that we don't do the "Author name's project" subforum thing, so that when people open the projects section, they immediately see what's offered there. That applies for any non-math/physic project for calculator, PC or emulator ROM hack you may have in the works. Then you can PM again later if you want more sub forums.
