Happy 9th anniversary Omnimaga!

I would have never completed Ultima V without the encouragement from everyone at Omnimaga!

Nice video DJ! Are there any good lessons out there for making videos from animated screenshots?

That reminds me,

While the calc RPG download section was recently updated for the last time recently, this update was with z80/HP files and I discovered that Ultima was missing from the 68K archives afterward, which was a big surprise to me, because I was convinced I already added it when Omni re-opened in 2008. The addition of Ultima V there will be one more update I do to the section when I start working on the replacement download area.

As for video lessons, I will probably post a small tutorial on how to make your calc vids look as smooth as possible, but this solution takes a lot of disk space and it also rely on basic softwares like Windows Movie Maker for putting all vids together. It would be nice to post, though, especially how to get the green-ish LCD color for white/black screenshots (such as from the Nspire emu) and adding the motion blur effect.

To make the vid, I used VirtualDub and Windows Movie Maker btw

You have my permission to add Ultima V to the Omnimaga archives. You can even snag a few screenshots from TIFW or Ticalc if you'd like. :)

At some point I plan on an update to Ultima V to correct a few bugs.

I thought about using some of the screenshots that you originally posted on the old Omnimaga board, as I still have all of them at http://www.omnimaga.org/images/screenshots/ . Some were large if I remember, though. I'll have to see if they aren't too bandwidth-intensive before using them.

Wow it has been A LONG while since you last posted on Omni :O (I think the last post was in March). Nice to see you're still around.

As for the games, a lot of them are still under development. Unfortunately shortly after the video was released, _player1537 announced he would make the ship shooter for the TI-Nspire instead of the 84+, though. :(. However, some versions of it are available in this topic, attached to some posts: http://ourl.ca/4791 . The last version is http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2194.0;attach=1337

The Minesweeper clone is still being worked on at http://ourl.ca/6861/116877;topicseen#new

Star Fox is also in the work at http://ourl.ca/6640 , but I have worries that the author may have moved on to other stuff :(

Besides that, there have been a lot of new projects since last time you posted on the forums. In fact, about 65% of the entire activity we had in 2 years came out in the last 6 months :P. A lot are by regular members.

Aah I see, and Doors CS7 freaking rules too. The only downside would be the fact it takes 49 KB so on my old 83+ I only have half of my archive left (with Axe installed) but I love it and everything it can do so the only time Doors CS7 will ever be removed from my calc will be when I want to play an extremly massive game (or work on one).

I hope you stick around here and Cemetech for a while. As for the projects, I've been thinking about splitting the general projects section in multiple sub-forums in the future, because it's a huge mess right now (the first page has topics with posts from less than 3 weeks ago). I thought about having a section for dev tools, one for games, one for math programs and miscellanous stuff. Otherwise, maybe I'll simply move more projects in the Major TI community projects section

yeah, some form of categorization would be great, since its actually quite hard to find things quickly sometimes... though i would say that everything works fine the way they are at the moment... But neatness would definitely attract more people to come and join this site.

The first time i ever came to this website, i was intimidated by the way the front page looks and thought it was too complicated lol. In-fact, it made me think if i would be able understand anything on this site at all and had me thinking if i should bother making an account or not. To put it simply, i guess i have to say that it looks a bit too professional. XD

That's actually one of the reasons why i use cemetech.net more.
But thats just my personal opinion though...

p.s. sorry if i am going off topic... :/

Aaah ok sorry to hear. As for the front page I think it is kinda fine, but I thought about maybe reducing the size of some stuff, such as the top posters and the new posts list (since it's kinda obsoleted by the new posts list in the navbar). I also considered limiting news character to 1000 chars, but that screws up BBCode :(

But the project section was made standard based on most other TI forums. However, that was when those forums had about 1500-4000 posts a month and 70% of them were off-topic. Now not only Omnimaga has 7000 a month, but the site is also mostly calc game-developpement-oriented, which means a very high amount of projects receives regular updates compared to before. In other words, maybe categories are in order ;D . I'm not planning to increase the amount of sub-forums that are listed on the board index, though. In fact, I've even removed some and put them as child boards of others recently. :P

EDIT: Back on topic... well... almost...

Now that I think about it, since the video ends with some Star Fox 84+ clip, I should really have made something like that at the end of the clip when the 2nd song ends :P
