Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga released! (Bandcamp exclusive)
« on: December 02, 2013, 05:55:02 pm »
In June 2002, I started producing electronic dance music, which ranged between eurodance and happy hardcore in style. I continued producing such music in 2003 and Early 2004, then from late 2006 to late 2009. Afterward, I decided to switch to another style in May 2010: Power Metal. I switched because I was inspired by video game music from Japan, along with some metal remixes and covers of that music, and power metal gave me more inspiration to make melodies than club and rave music did. Until 2012, I only made two more dance tracks, the rest all being new 32-bit, electronic power metal sounding. A few of my power metal songs are covers of my older electronic songs.

Since December 2011, I have released three music albums for sale:

-Dec 2011: Tales of the Knight of the Moon: My first power metal album
-Apr 2012: A Decade of Magic Hardcore (2002-2012): A compilation of many of my happy hardcore songs
-Nov 2012: A Decade of Omnidance (2002-12): A compilation of the rest of my dance music

Tonight, after several months of hiatus and being almost two days late from my original planned release date, here comes my 2nd power metal album: Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga!

Track list:
1.   Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga  06:07
2.   Flash in the Sky  03:49
3.   The Star Knight  05:18
4.   Island of Mysteries  01:50
5.   Influence from Beyond the Sky  03:50
6.   Heading into the Final Battle  04:04
7.   Theola the One  15:47
8.   Die! Die! Die!  05:13
9.   One Axe to Save us All  05:36
10.   It's the End of Agony  06:55

It is greatly inspired from artists and bands such as Albion (another electronic power metal artist), Saitama Saisyu Heiki, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce, Sabaton, Gamma Ray, Nightwish and many others. However, it is not exactly true metal, since the music was composed with old-school music softwares like Albion did (I use Music 2000, A.K.A. MTV Music Generator, while he uses MODPlug Tracker), rather than real instruments. Also there are no lyrics, so while listening to the album, you might feel like if this music came from some random japanese game or something. Hence why my Bandcamp page refers to 32-bit music (MTVMG being a Playstation game from 1999).

Due to lack of popularity of non-pop genres on iTunes, Zune and Pandora and the fact I am losing money from my previous power metal album there, this second one will remain a Bandcamp exclusive (since Bandcamp is free).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy. You can either buy the HQ WAV/MP3/FLAC version of the album or listen to it on Bandcamp! Since Omnimaga had between 2500 and 4999 posts in November, this means that for December, the album is $4. (see chart for pricing)

I listened to some of the songs on Bandcamp and thought they were nice. I'd buy it if only the $4 was in my budget (it is cheap, make no mistake).
I was wondering if much older media as albums was available, like 2003? Because for me, the older the better.

As a sidenote, I am glad to have reached 20 posts now.

I have many songs from 2002 to 2012 at https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/a-decade-of-omni-dance-2002-12 and https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/a-decade-of-magic-hardcore-2002-2012-2 , but I think you have to click the song link to view the year. Note that the only songs I made in 2002-2003 that have guitar-like sounds are Apocalypse, Moon Knight and Sky Mage Melody. I also have an unreleased demo from late 2002 that is power metal-like, but it's not even close to a song lol.

If you are into dance music, however, most people liked the following 2002-04 material the most it seems:
-The Winter Trance
-The Summer Trance (Kerm used it in one of his vid)
-Techno Revolution (the short version is from Early 2004)
-Apocalypse
-Techno Strike
-New Beginning (which pretty much uses only pre-made loops for the most part)

And yeah I like older stuff better than most newer music it seems. For example, most of my music library on my computer contains stuff from the Early 80's (mostly Iron Maiden, Metallica and italo-disco/eurobeat) to the 90's (Bad Religion, many eurobeat, eurodance and some happy hardcore tracks), with very few dance tracks from afterward (other than the ones I made). Most newer stuff is Iron Maiden, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica and Sabaton. :P

I've been listening a bit to your music in bandcamp and i must admit that, in general, i quite like it. However, i do have a bit of a problem understanding how do people manage to dance with this type of music? Any video-clip maybe would help to visualize the scenario.
IMO you should also try to sell your music as soundtrack of some fantastic thriller movies maybe in Hollywood/Bollywood why not?  Wish you all the luck with your sales. :)

If you mean the happy hardcore stuff, people in raves usually just keep jumping to the beat, often with their hands up in the air with glowsticks :P

I think it's similar to slower tempo stuff, unless it was the late 80's acid house in UK illegal raves, where literally everyone was just high on LSD. <_<

For the power metal stuff, you're not supposed to dance to that stuff. Ok, well, at some heavy metal concerts you do some fist pumping or participate in mosh pits, but it's not a dance genre. :P

Ok, thanks. I guess i got it now. It's just a redefinition of the dancing term, oh well.

Yeah happy hardcore emerged from some sort of old school breakdance-like music in United Kingdom in the early 90's then quickly became popular until 1999 when trance music took over. It later got revived as UK hardcore in 2002 or so, but since 2007, almost every song are just speed up versions of mainstream dance stuff.

Would you be able to provide me with a playlist of an older album, so I could collect the songs myself? It is sort of a bad habit of mine - I prefer to have all my songs sorted by album, and as far as I can tell, the older ones that are posted on Omnimaga (for downloading for free) don't say what album they're from before one dls them. Can we have a discography of you? Can you or one of us make a Wikipedia page about your work?

I think there's an Omnimaga topic somewhere listing my past albums that had some of my older music and the years. I think it's called DJ Omnimaga discography. It's not 100% complete, though, since the member isn't very active, and it doesn't contain direct download links. Plus manually putting download links one by one would be too tedious for me so I doubt I'll do it between work and sleep. >.<

Also keep in mind that on the happy hardcore compilation, the 14 first songs included are higher-quality recordings than the ones in Omnimaga archives, while with the regular dance album, the first 20 songs are HQ (either 320k MP3 quality or uncompressed WAV).

As for wikipedia I think I would need to be a notable, popular artist in the world, else people would probably delete it.

Really, I feel sorry about not being able to pay you! It will be one of the higher things on my list!
About Wikipedia... you should know best about this (though likely don't).
I shall try to collect the albums myself if it is any easier for you, and if you want I can post it in a topic.  Your music, btw, sounds better than most I've heard, on account of a great deal (not all) of modern techno being affected by New-age and repetitivity.
