CGPN: The Calculator Game Programming Newsletter
« on: January 29, 2011, 09:29:05 pm »

Thanks to Yunhua98's initiative, Omnimaga is proud to announce the resurrection of the newsletter. Back in 2005, we had the Zilak Newsletter, by Anthony Loven, but only one issue was published. This time our newsletter is going under the CGPN acronym, which means "Calculator Game Programming Newsletter". Like the title says, it will cover news about calculator games, development of them but also discoveries and innovations all accross the calculator community.

It will be some sort of review of what happened accross the TI community in recent times and it will be possible to subscribe to receive it via e-mail. In fact, if you already had e-mail notifications enabled, you probably already received a copy of the January 2011 newsletter in HTML format. Notifications can be enabled or disabled via your forum profile (Profile->Notifications and Email->Check/Uncheck "Receive forum announcements and important notifications by email").

We currently plan for a monthly newsletter, which will be published around the end of every month. In the future, there will most likely be new additions such as a list of featured releases for that month and at the start of every season there may even be an interview with a TI programmer.

Anyway, the first CGPN issue can be found in the recently created Newsletter section located in the Miscellaneous page and there are also HTML and plain text copies available there.

I hope you enjoy!

He knew? O.O I guess Eeems or Yunhua98 probably brought it up in Cemetech channel before I posted it, although I think I talked about a newsletter not so long ago.

Oh, maybe. Actually UTI former staff JBirk/Netwizz e-mailed TI recently so maybe that was the letter he talked about.

Enjoyed the letter, good plane of attack you have. Keep everyone updated, and it will help keep people in the loop (aka community). Great job guys!

Thanks. You can thank Yunhua98 and the others mostly for that, though, since they were the ones who added the most in this edition. I changed some stuff like the formatting and corrected some mistakes (such as changing calcNET to CALCnet), as well as tested the HTML version (which is why admins got two copies of the newsletter if they were subscribed).

Now we have to make sure this won't be the only issue of the CGPN published though.  ;)

Yeah true. :P Interviews would be nice, too, since it has been a while since the last one in the English TI community.

What a nice surprise in my email inbox this evening.

I truly enjoyed reading the CGPN. I cannot wait for the next one. :)

Initially I thought mostly about some of the people who revolutionarized the calc world with things such as Ndless or gCn and the like, but there would most likely be interviews with other people as well. It might also depend how hard it is to contact the person via a real-time chat medium.

Now that my previously discontinued cage match entry has been mentioned in the newletter, I feel obligated to continue it. Oh well, Prizm hacking can wait.
