Where should we make topics for this contest, in the z80 projects forum?

Yepp. You can tag it as [Contest] if you like. :) I'd also mention which category your entry is.

Btw to encourage activity or discourage vanishing 2 months during the contest with no knowledge if someone is working on an entry, should there be a rule forcing people to make a topic for their entry? Cemetech has that rule every year.

* shmibs thinks that making a topic can actually be counter-productive for some people.
it can lead to people getting distracted by visuals and going along with what other people have to say, trying to pack in features, and never actually creating a finished product.

Yeah you got a good point here. I just remember that in the past, contests were meant (partially) to bring more activity to forums they occured on, yet the complete opposite happened with the 2011 Nspire contest. >.<

there should be a precedent to post that you are participating... but no 'rule' and no requirement to make a topic :)

also, YIKES, the deadline is all the way in NOVEMBER???
over a month... i just can't win :'(  the way i work simply more time does not make it much better... adds cluinky features and the value of the project slowly degrades :(
(btw i have my entry done already -.-)

Nice! Then forget about it until November rolls around. That should work?

That could work too. Or people could just post in this topic when they decide to participate or to announce that they're finally not gonna finish their entry, without necessarily mentionning what. It's just good to know what people are up to and not thinking they're done with calcs and didn't tell us. :P

So both the winners for TI-BASIC and Axe both get CSEs? Or is there just one over all winner?

I am assuming there is 3 winners for each category. That would make more sense, as asm/axe has shown to make more advanced programs at the moment.

I think you mean precedent, I had to think about your post for a moment. November gives people time to plan and make their entries. If it were to short, we would likely get hardly any entries.

I was looking at the post on the front page thinking: "oh yea, I remember those games... Uncle worm, paper plane, phoenix, ... What's that last one? I remember seeing that from somewhere... OH, wait... is it? *facepalm*... "

Well I'm humbled that my modu10 game is considered a classic game that you enjoy playing many times! It was based on a flash game I found online a few years ago. According to a few reports, modu10 is only functional on older calcs. Newer versions aren't compatible with xLIB (probably bc of the firmware/os). It also only works with xLIB afaik. DoorsCS had trouble rendering the shapes last I knew.

BTW, additional levels are unlocked when you complete the first 49! (just a little easter egg)

Now, concerning this contest, I might have some free time to create something. I'd have to re-learn how Axe works. A good puzzle game would be fun...

I think Modu10 got quite popular because it was in one of the Omnimaga anniversary video (one of which had 20K views). As for compatibility, it's probably because xLIB only runs on OS 2.43 or lower and while Celtic III and DCS7 runs on newer OSes, they do not emulate xLIB 100% correctly. The only solution is to install one of ThePenguin77's OS patch.

Anyway nice to see you around still. It would be nice to see an entry from you. :D However, this time don't mess up with the deadline hours :P (since last time you thought that 12 AM was actually noon time, costing you a place in the contest and possibly a very good spot to win :P)
