Database reaches 200000 posts
« on: October 26, 2011, 05:21:55 am »
Yesterday evening, Omnimaga reached a new milestone: 200000 posts in the current database!

This sets a new mark as Omnimaga is only the second calculator-related board to ever make it past the 200K mark in one database, behind the TI-68K yAronet forums (French), which broke the milestone around 2003. With the old database included, Omni sits at 256492, as of this writing. The largest thread on this incarnation of the site is the Axe Parser Features Wishlist, with over 2600 replies. Activity on the site also remained quite high, with discussion focus having been even more centralized towards calculator programming discussion and project showcase, while still not giving up on other discussions towards which Omni branched out over the years.

In other news, the Omnimaga Twitter now automatically notifies of news posts on the site, not just the ones made directly on Facebook. Be sure to remain informed about calculator programming and site by following us!

DJ, my best guess:

But ignoring that, great! :)"

Yeah true. I remember back when we started breaking activity records, then that record would get broken again the next month and so on. At one point it didn't look like milestones anymore lol.

If we hit 500K we would be eligible for big boards. I sure hope that 500K is done with as least spam/randomness and 2-3 word post content as possible and as much relevant and constructive content as possible, though. :P

9000K would take decades O.O

We average around 8000K per month and if the trend continues, next year we will probably average around 5000-7000 per month (in 2010 we averaged around 10000-12000 for a few months), so that's gonna take ages to reach 9 million, if we ever reach that many. To achieve that Omnimaga would need to branch out towards other themes like popular games and music artists that it wouldn't even be seen as a calc site anymore.
