Title: DJ returns to admin, sort-of, and admin position updates
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 31, 2010, 12:59:32 am
Now that holidays are almost done, I can finally return to admin. However since I am still busy, my activity will remain sparse for a while. I am returning as admin so I can do my news editor/file archiving duty, do some minor forum updates and be able to receive PMs again, but I still won't answer requests and I may be slow at responding to messages.

Also, to remedy to the task overload problem that plagued me and to a lesser Hot_Dog in the past two months, we made sure that all admin will still have time to perform some of these tasks in the future and assigned them these tasks.

To help admins do their work faster, we would like to encourage forum members to do the following:
-If you notice innapropriate material or get an innapropriate PM, please use the Report to moderator link besides the post. The entire staff will be notified via PM.
-If you have any request such as adding/removing a sub-forum or the like, please PM one of the other admins to do so. Your request will be forwarded to all other admins if he doesn't have time to answer it.

On my side, I'll soon post a bunch of news and do some forum updates, so stay tuned. Our apologies for anything that may be late.

Perhaps for requests, you could set up a sort of mailbox which all the admins can read from and attempt to fulfill as many as they are able?

Edit: Damn it, that was a sort of request, wasn't it :P

Yeah that could work, providing they actually check it. If SMF supported mod-approval sub-forums that could work too.

I would definitely check something like that.  Granted, I don't know enough about the workings of the forum to do any deep-level maintenance, but I would be willing to help in any way that I am able.

Thanks. I'm currently doing some of the forum updates I posted in a to-do list now. I'm usually gonna do the in-depth stuff (except coding, most likely), although the other stuff will be split. Now I just moved a lot of topics, though, but I only checked misc talk and the top of a few calc sub-forums.

Nice to hear you're back to administration duties, even if not very active ;D

Welcome back, as for requests, maybe havesomething like the download section where people submit one and then only adminscan read it until they approve like the do section?

Yeah that's what I meant by mod-approval section.

And thanks guys.

On a side note, my low post rate is mostly caused by longer work schedules. Before, I would post as soon as I arrive from work, but recent events caused me to be more tired, so when I return from work, I am too tired to concentrate. This is why I sometimes check one thread every hour or so. I have to wait several hours before I feel like posting normally. However, working 7+ hours per day when you're used to 5.5 makes such periods more rare. Today, I worked 11.5 hours in a row (from 7:45 AM to 9:15 PM, excluding both dinner breaks). Also my schedule shifted from evenings to mostly daytime. This will last two weeks, the time someone returns from vacation.

... Okay, I care slightly less now. Wherever the point that you take my dinner of you arms is, that's the level of caring you get. ;-)

Sorry, netham45, a mans gotta eat.

Actually, I don't really like seafood. ;-)

>.< yeah tell me about it.
I love seafood though, lobster is one of my favourites too, along with shrimp and crab :9
It's too bad it costs so much otherwise I would eat them more.
