because most of the time it doesn
It can give you a general idea of what its talking about, but usually it doens't make any sense right away.
And at that point, you can always make it make sense, write it down, and get permission from them to post it, or let them have the copy... :)
Umm, I am looking at the tutorials, they make sense to me, and I didn't even translate the page... :ru13z:
http://fastrpl.info/english/fastrpl_tut/fastrpl_tuto.html
Why are only some of the tutorials in english?
The download page isn't English
That's really awesome for a non ASM language!
@ RadicalPi: I believe it says (correct me if I'm wrong) that it is a beta version and there is always to be some bugs expected. Therefore, you should backup all of your files before using it. Click on "T
very cool I got confused by the syntax, RPN seemed to hate me a bit as well as stack stuff, but I might look at it again (and add to archives) once I get more free time in the next few weeks. :)
wicked!!!! this i will definetly look at!
*sighs* well, I can wait till it
I just now downloaded it...
Looks cool! Now If I could understand it... *cough* *tutorial* *cough*
I need a tutorial for this thing... I keep getting an "error on line 7."
Too confusing...
Rock Out
:drum:
For some reason, TilEm doesn't seem to support it. Guess I'll actually have to try something on my calc (shudders).
They specifically said you don't have to worry about crashing.
If Basic alternatives such as FastRPL exist, why hasn't Basic been replaced as the most widely used Ti-Calc programming language?

Because TI-Basic is standard on calcs so it is easier for non-hard core programmers to use because it can be done on calc and is also the easiest one to learn and use and is the one with the most tutorials.
also fast RPL is limited in game size I think (RAM), in BASIC you can split files to fit them in archive memory and run them from here

The RPL programming language (RPL meaning Reverse Polish LISP or, alternatively, ROM-based procedural language) is a handheld calculator system and application programming language used on Hewlett-Packard's engineering graphing RPN calculators of the HP-28, HP-48 and HP-49 series. |
i am wondering if this would make porting games from TI to HP easier?
Could be. I'm thinking strongly of adding frpl support to DCS6...
Is FastRPL what MLC tried to be? Is MLC still alive, or is it an abandoned project?
FastRPL is a RPN based language for the 83+. MLC was supposed to be another language but for all calcs (evewn Casio and HP) but its dead. Only the 86 version is still being developped as well as AFX version but very slowly.
@Kerm nice, too bad DCS doesnt have MOS support it would have been the universal shell for running all existing games since Mirage doesnt run Fast RPL games yet. Only problem is that FastRPL is interpreted so you would have to include it in DCS or make RPL programs show in DCS and auto run FastRPL and the game when selected from DCS, but I dunno if it would be doable. Maybe it would be buggy
anyone tackle frpl yet?
if so, results?
I couldn't get it to work on VTI so I gave up
Once I get some of these things completed for my site and projects, I will tackle some of it. This might be a few weeks though...
I don't want to see this die out, because it has so much potential. (I'm sure that's been said about plenty of trans-calc languages.) So I may randomly post here every couple weeks to check on progress ;)
So does FastRPL run the risk of crashes? and it's probably not for on-calc, rite?
They said no crashes, and you HAD to do it on-calc.
i tried fastRPL a little and played the games made for it. Seems to work quite fast and is very impressive. One thing i don't like about it is the insane amount of archive the app takes up
Could you please elaborate on the amount? I am kinda curious now...
I NEED TO TRY THIS
Mmm, I might work on translating the tutortials, but I'm not even close to being fluent in french, so I dunno.

~65,000 Archive space if i recall correctly, about half mem of 83+!
What!!!! I'm going to stick with ASM, no offense to anyone who's planning on using FastRPL.
Thats Huge!!!

that
wow I never though that was that huge! O_O
wow
well at least it allow for cool games making but I hope you dont need the whole app just to play games >_>

uh... I think you DO need it... since it
didnt there was an app to edit program and another one for playing them&?
at least the last time I played around with it it was one App >D
so, nope <_<
eew so we need to bring that big app with us just to play a game? wow
If one wanted a boost from basic and didn't want to totally learn asm you could use http://joepnet.com/hosted/maxcoderz/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1293 , yes it's asm, but it is a little easier to use.
hmm sound interesting, at least this should make developpement easier :)
Interesting... _maybe_ I
Hi, i'm kuda, one of fastRPL developers... I stoped working since months, on this project since I dont have a lot of time, and there are not many people intersted in it... The idea was to create a real fastRPL community, even if the project is not 100% finished... But if you say you are interested, I may rework on it when I have time... I spoke about english translation, well if someone could help me in that it would be great, so we could give the news to many big Ti sites (that was why I preferd to wait)...
I just wan't to say that crash may happen Oncalc... So if you wan't to code in fastRPL save everything in archive or on your PC... If one I find enough motivation in myself, but also in intersted people, I will complete that project, and at term, it should be crash-free at all.
So don't hesitate to test samples games, try to code some stuff, and register on the website if you intend to do something... If you understand a bit a french, and you have a good logic, you could be able to translate the tutorials... I'm too bad in english to make my programation explaination clearly enough, so your help would be great !
Thank you every one,
Kuda
Welcome to Omnimaga! I would love to see a FastRPL community, I was waiting for it to catch on but it didn't. :(
Anyway, I wish you luck!
Hi kuda long time no see :)
I dunno if I would have time to translate all the tutorials, but if I had some I could do it, some ppl would just have to help me translate the ASM related stuff ;)
Well I could help with seeing if it sounded correct in English, but other than that just use google translator :P
. I tried it out, but it was a little to big to use on my 83+BE. But it would be cool to see completed.
