Some people need to learn that taking an existing image and reducing the amount of colours it has is NOT pixel-art.

The broadsword deserves to win in this case!

i think he meant that pixel art contests are for showing what you can draw yourself using limited resolution. Of course I'm not in charge of this competition its up to necro to deal with all that stuff

Hey hey, they aren't pictures and reduced the # of colors. :( The aug one I had an actual picture of an aug on my screen in a window above where I was drawing, hence the good (in my opinion) accuracy. I didn't just take a picture of one and switch it to b&w. :(

The flame sword one is actually really simple if you look at it. I just scribbled some flames down and then made a really lame looking sword. Then I messed around with all sorts of effect things to make it look niftier. That one started out as all grey as well, but I decided to red-ify it. I blurred it, redrew the sword, changed stuff like intensity and hue and anything else I could find. I was just playing around with different pieces of software for about 45 minutes. Both are hand drawn and completely new as of the day I got bored and decided to make them.

Well, what i meant was that pixel-art is traditionlly done with a 1 pixel brush and a canvas. Not utilising of other tools or filters etc.

Im not pointing fingers or anything as i know that people arent blatantly cheating or anything. Im just saying that its usually funner if things are done the traditional way.

All in all, a great job and another pixel-art contest end! :).

I like the sould reaver, it makes the best use of contrast with four level grayscale.

just double the size, methinks pixel art can be viewed best on a screen at 2x

I made both the beam sword and revolver, and must say that I drew both in paint pixel by pixel (if you compare them, you may notice some similarities as the sword was the basis for the revolver and the carbine that sadly got corrupted) and will leave open to any one who wants to anounce what they made to do so, as people alread kinda have.

Because the broadsword is pretty! And very flat. (The flatness was probably a factor here, because good swords can't be thick.)

2. Since I'm a lost romanticist and like it simple :P I'd suggest the following: 96*64 sprite, either up to lvl5 gs showing a sunset *sigh*
Up to two submissions per person, MS paint or equivalent only.

I'm sorry but using filters or doing a color conversion via a program and doing resizes is not pixel art by any true pixel artist's standards. For shame *shakes head* Two the entries weren't pixel art, is all I'm going to say.

for some reason I kinda have to agree, pixel art is drawing the stuff yourself. I think there should be a contest where converting is not allowed but it would be hard to make sure no one is cheating :/

I hope the Necro Puzzle level editing contest start soon :P
