First monthly postcount above old board average
« on: December 28, 2009, 07:32:43 am »
As you can read in the first post of this topic, the old Omnimaga forums (archive.org link), which were avaliable from May 12th 2005 to December 31st 2007, as well as the temporary board that remained open from January 1st 2008 to March 3rd 2008 averaged at 1673 posts per month. On August 25th 2008, this new board opened. December 2009 is the first time this new board has a monthly post count higher than our old board average, with 1676 posts including this one, and still four days left. This month is also our most active in terms of posting since this new board opened after Omnimaga had no website for almost 6 months.

UPDATE (8:22 PM): Earlier today, this month postcount has quickly went above the 1701 mark, which was the old board average, but excluding the temporary board used Early 2008. The temporary Omnimaga board, which was hosted on Zetaboards and survived only two months, was inactive enough to bring the average down by 28.

UPDATE (Dec 31st 09 3:46 AM): Last afternoon, December 09 became the first month in this new board history to reach 2000 posts and probably the highest count since Early 2007, old board combined. Thanks to all who contributed to the community, directly and indirectly.

This is cool. It seems the calc scene has alot of renewed interest lately. It also doesn't hurt that alot of people have free time for winter break atm. =D

But some people move to family houses where they don't have Internet access.

Yea, that's true too, I just meant more free time overall.

Yap, but just tried to balance a bit things.

I hope next month activity can at least keep the pace.

Next month lets "pulverize" the maximum post count on TI forums ever, not just Omnimaga. j/k

I have to wonder if the recession ends, if the TI community will get more active? These days, parents must be asking their kids to borrow school calcs (no link cable access) and fewer people may have internet access to access TI forums, because people can no longer afford these things.

This month (January 2010) is by far more active than December.

DJ, when you think is time to publish that we passed the old forum maximum?

Yeah I noticed o.o, plus it's nearly 1000 more posts than November (and 1500 than October). I'm not sure, really. The highest monthly post count we ever reached was in the 4000s, but back then there were more Randomness posts (that were even more spammish than what we have now) and fewer members were active posting (Kalan Vod and Krid had like 70 posts a day sometimes :P)

While the old board also had a lot of attention toward projects compared to other forums, it still didn't compare to the current board.

Basically during the months we got 4000 in 2006, about 1000 of these were spam such as the number counting/word association threads. Now, most active randomness topics are not even close from spam :P

70 a day! :o
How do you have 70 posts a day?  I thought 30 a day was about the upper bound.  70?
 *ZTrumpet is stunned...
So when do you think it will pass the high, DJ?  My guess is January 2011, but I think I'll be wrong. ;D
