In several previous news, we had already announced you the new color touchscreen ClassPad from Casio, the fx-CP400 for back to school 2013.

Helder7 from Casiopeia has published what I believe to be the first test of this new calculator he has managed to obtain.

Several people made fun about the hardware of this new calculator, assumed to be largely inferior to the one of the TI-Nspire CX and HP-Prime.
But we must also consider another factor, whether the OS uses hardware optimally or not.

Helder7 seems to have experienced no discomfort with this calculator he qualifies as a serious competitor to the TI-Nspire CX, although he concludes, however, that the latter is better.

He's even released you some small programs!

I agree with the point about how the OS uses the available hardware. If it does it's job nicely, (and judging from the thread it does) then why make a problem out of it.

I'm not really surprised that this thing has poor performance. Not only that, but IIRC it's unusable in standardized testing in the US due to the touch screen. To top things off it's really ugly too (in my opinion). Ah well.

Also, why would this calc be more expensive than the Prime (which price is according to the emulator topic basically the same as the Nspire CX CAS) but still a lot less powerful ?

But more seriously, the problem is not its design, but its poor performances. The Prizm already didn't get a lot of audience (even if quite capable, even though less capable than the CX) but if this one is slower than the Prizm, uglier and more expensive, what is left ?

it will definitively be much faster than the 84+CSE and 68K calcs, ASM-wise, but the issue is that the OS and especially the BASIC languages are so poorly implemented that most non-homescreen games will be unplayable.

Also we would think that with such a small audience (due to test bans) and low specs, the calc would at least try to compete with the Nspire and Prime, price-wise. If they really charge so much more for it in all countries, this will be a huge market failure. At such high price, the only chance it got now is against the CX CAS and 68K models, in terms of BASIC commands and color support respectively, and having been released a few months earlier than the HP Prime.
