gCn Direct USB Bridge beta now available
« on: March 24, 2011, 07:21:53 pm »
Those who got a TI-84 Plus calculator, but no Arduino board can now rejoice: KermMartian has released a beta of Doors CS 7.2, which includes DUSBgCn, a direct USB Global CALCnet bridge. Although it is still not 100% finished and might not be 100% stable, you should hopefully be able to play Obliterate with other people over the Internet through oblithub. Make sure to read the instructions carefully and if you find new bugs that weren't reported before, make sure to let the author know in the DCS 7.2 Beta + DUSBgCn thread.

However, if someone ever creates a gCn-based first-person-shooter, Kerm appears to be extremly good at this type of game, so prepare to be owned.

In addition to that, Cemetech front page now appears to track how many calculators are connected to gCn.

It works excellently in Linux AFAICT :)
Excellent work, Kerm!

Cool! If wifi8x ever gets finished, could we see calcs directly connecting to gcn? That would be awesome!

I just tested it out with a calc that I "borrowed" from a friend.  This is the first time I have touched a TI calculator in several months and for the brief amount of time that I was on I was astounded by the sheer fact that I was using my (brother's) calculator on the internet.
Its this kind of thing that really makes using calculators exiting.  Fantastic job to all who are involved.  ;D

Wait waht? Link? O.O I never heard of this project before O.O

I hope ACagliano finishes the gCn portion of his Axe tutorial because since Axe is so popular, imagine all the games that could be created for it with Axe.

YES I HAVE TO TRY THIS NOW.
My website: Currently boring.

Projects:
Axe Interpreter
   > Core: Done
   > Memory: Need write code to add constants.
   > Graphics: Rewritten.  Needs to integrate sprites with constants.
   > IO: GetKey done.  Need to add mostly homescreen IO stuff.
Croquette:
   > Stomping bugs
   > Internet version: On hold until I can make my website less boring/broken.

It's probably not a good idea to link to brandonw's site, but yeah, a while.  At least anything in the svn, or other secret parts. :D

Did he want this to remain secret? Or is it just because everyone will bug him asking when it's coming out? O.O

No, it wasn't supposed to be secret. Just go to brandonw.net and search "wifi8x".  The article was posted January 6th, 2007.

EDIT: Note, the link above is totally fine, I was just talking about some stuff in the svn, and calcstuff might be bad to link to.

Oh ok, I thought it was a more recent project. And yeah Calcstuff is definitively not something we should link to. People will find the programs on Google and install them on school calcs and stuff.

Lol bad Graphmastur. :P The only way I got someone's calc stuck before was using the 999 element list SortA() trick.
