Hacking threat

Recently there have been an spam/hacking threat aimed toward TI websites, especially Omnimaga, by a member called 1337h4kor of Calcg.org forums. Due to the nature of the actual troublemaker it is less likely that he will be able to accomplish his illegal actions, but in case we would be underestimating his hacking knowledge we ask you to not panic if the forum suddently disappears one day or if it gets taken over (the member stated that after getting banned from Wikipedia.org server he managed to make them crash in a way we will not state here for legal reasons). Invisionfree do nightly backups and have old password records, so it will be easy to get the board back and while they back it up it take less than 10 minutes to set up a temporary board and redirect the Omnimaga.org domain here.
If this happens we and Invisionfree staff will take actions against this person. He also threatened to hack other TI websites but he stated that the threat was specifically directed at me, so we recommend for other TI forum owners to do a backup in case something would happen.

Maybe it's because I usually don't believe threats by such attention whores, but I'm doubting this guy is the 1337 hax0r he claims to be. Come on, making Wikipedia crash? That alone means he's either lying, or a pretty good hacker, in which case I find it absolutely pathetic that he's threatening CALCULATOR forums. Yeah, I'm being aggressive about it; and yeah, I'm just DARING this guy to hack my account. It's losers like these that make the world fun for the rest of us.
But back up the forum just in case.
Nothing to see here people, just a stereotypical third grade bully, probably still in third grade.

I say if he hacks anyone's account, we track his IP and crash his computer

a lot
more about hacking than Calulator programing.

I'm trying to think of how many members here and on the other forums that do a lot of programming and how many work on computers/servers for a living. It's not that smart to try and hack a place with that many people that likely know more than you.

I have to agree that this guy is not what he claims to be. First of all, if Wikipedia went down, it would be all over digg.com and other similar sites. In order to take down a site that large that has that many servers, you would have to have a lot of machines in many different parts of the world under your control. If this is true that he has this kind of bot net, I doubt he is involved in the TI Community in any way. I hate to generalize, but that does not sound like anyone who would be here. Most of us are younger (I would dare say 95% of us in the entire community are either in high school or are an undergraduate in high school), and don't think to do this sort of stuff.
DJ, if this is targeted at your, then it may just be your admin account he is after. If that is true, then you might want to look at ways to prevent your account. Just a thought.

Ditto. Sounds like an angry script-kiddy wants to bolster his ePeen.

As far as I can tell my account hasn't been touched by anyone but me. I would have expected such an elitist to go for my bait, if he was anything more than talk.
If nothing else, this gave me a little fun.

I ran a quick Google search out of curiousity. Seems he's the only person with this username, so I was linked back to his CalcG.org profile. To quote his own interests:

Ok everyone I'm currently working on the battle engine for my pokemon Red game. I should have the Beta Version up and running by October 12th. *Crosses Fingers*.
Obviously, we're dealing with a
SERIOUS

I read his calcg profile a little while before my last post (while looking for the hacking threat itself, but I didn't find it). A lot of his interests were also interests I had, so I almost had that sympathetic guilty feeling.
Of course, then I saw him ask on the forum how it was possible to combine two strings (Str1+Str2->Str3) with the topic title in all caps.
I guess in the end it makes no difference. I don't know this guy, this guy doesn't know me, I doubt he was banned from wikipedia for anything more then excessive vandalism, but all my opinions are by nature biased toward omnimaga.
Conclusion: I don't think we've been in any danger still, but at least I came out of posting inactivity... again...

Yeah as I said in the news and my posts on calcg I dont take his threat seriously either, I doubt he can hack. However, we never know, there's maybe 2% chances he can do it at all, and this is only that 2% that can cause trouble. But we are prepared anyway.
Oh and according to his calcg.org profile he is 18 and half a year old. That make me think even more that people age doesn't matter at all. However this means if he decided to do illegal activity on this site he could get into even more serious trouble since he is major so he just owned himself

that may be true, but even here there are people who are 13-15 that are acting better than older people (like me
) so it's hard to tell if it's true or not
