USB opening new calc programmign possibility

Dan Englender has recently released Usb8x, a driver in flash APP format designed for other programmers to create drivers for a variety of USB peripherials, like USB jumpdrives. Michael Vincent has made a ticalc.org exclusive video which can be found http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/13/130/130297.html, showing the thing in action. This is a video of The Matrix's infamous lobby scene playing from a 1 GB jumpdrive. This isn't in grayscale but this could be possible. Maybe this will open new possibility for TI-84+/SE programming, like adding full lenght videos in calculator RPGs!

More information can be found at http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/13/130/130297.html.

i saw this on CG a while back... but the video is new, and is pretty cool..

in any case, it seems to me it would be really cool if there was a way to make this callable from basic. an app could add new functions like

GetMouseX
GetMouseY

to enable BASIC programs to utilize this to the maximum possible extent. other functions could include

GetUSBKey
StoreToFlash
GetFromFlash
FormatDrive

also, i would REALLY like to see a bootable version of linux for the TI84+/SE... and this makes it possible...

We could also make much larger RPGs... I wonder how long a 1 GB RPG by Kevin would be... Thousands of hours i guess...

true...

think about it... Halo for PC takes up about 1.4gb with saves. on a 30gb USB drive, you could probably play ssome really cool games... except for te problem of no graphics card...
