Mhmm, I don't recall that boss being that long. I had around 200 mag power and I remember I defeated the boss pretty quickly (boss has 500000 HP and I did around 20000 damage every turn). You might be confusing with another boss. I think the hardest boss was the Holy Palace one. I remember having to heal almost every turn. The fake Unicorn enemy called Uniporn is also extremly hard. It only has 9 HP but everything did like between 20 and 40 damage against him and the enemy almost killed you in one hit with AURA LV9 if you didn't have elemental protection. In other words, it was almost some sort of suddent-death battle

I'm really confused. I never get a fake Illusiat village in the Fourth Dimension, and I've been in it forever. It cycles between two of the same zones.... oh, and sorry for necroing.

I'll let DJ answer that.  He made it, so he would know. ;D
And that's a great post to necro on.  You had a question and this is the best spot for it.
Welcome to Omnimaga!

@DJ: I find myself watching the opening sequence over and over again.  It always brings a smile to my face, mostly because it looks so great.

Okay, that's bigger smile!  With comments like that, it gives me hope that DJ Omnimaga will finish it.  The end may be near. :D

Have you tried some of the previous Illusiat games? They can be found here in this directory: http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;cat=29

I have tried Illusiat 12, and (cheated a little, Zone 9 was super incredibly hard) killed Astar. That was an epic battle. Now I'm having nostalgia at all the Illusiat 12 references in 13. :P

Which version of Illusiat was on Earth? I'll have to try that one.

Hi insorak and welcome here :)

Unfortunately I haven't played Illusiat 12 in a while so I don't exactly remember what is "Zone 9" (unless you mean chapter 9?), but yeah that game was really hard. Lot of grinding to do, especially early in the game and during the last chapter (where I started the final dungeon at LV 115 and finished at LV 220).

I recall chapter 9 was super hard too, due to being hard to find your way among rocks and if I remember, there was a glitch in the upper part where if you exited somewhere it wasn't supposed to, you would end up stuck into a wall outside or vice-versa, but I might be wrong.

Illusiat 13, despite occuring a million of years after the other games, has lot of stuff from Illusiat 4 remake (included in Illusiat 2004, in French) and Illusiat 12, like a dungeon close to the 2nd village after the huge desert, which is optional. Illusiat 4 is actually the game that occurs on Earth, but I lost the original version in 2002 (along with the 3 first games, which were very easy to recreate from memory, unlike the 4th one) and the only avaliable version is the remake included in Illusiat 2004, which, as I said, is only in french right now.

Most Illusiat 13 area that were present in Illusiat 4 and 12 looks very similar, except the entire floor is usually blank, due to the new engine limitations, and some parts might look more complex in general.

As for the bosses, most were from the 12 previous games and the ones that were present in Illusiat 3 through 12 have connections with each others

Now about the Fourth dimension area: This area is some sort of illusion area or dream-ish area (altough it's not a dream). If you played Quest 64 or Final Fantasy VI you might have encountered some similar areas. Some doors will loop you back to the beginning, others will lead you to a place that makes no sense, others will lead you at a totally different type of area and there's no logical pattern to follow. In one case, you'll go through a door, and if you go back, you'll end up in a different area. It's pretty much trial and error and when you are in a Village, don't go through the door at the bottom-left area because there's a bug that'll cause you to get stuck into a wall there.

Yeah read the previous posts, a dialogue between DJ and me. It will explain a lot ^^

Spoiler For funny life mathematics:
1. ROMANCE MATHEMATICS
Smart man + smart woman = romance
Smart man + dumb woman = affair
Dumb man + smart woman = marriage
Dumb man + dumb woman = pregnancy
2. OFFICE ARITHMETIC
Smart boss + smart employee = profit
Smart boss + dumb employee = production
Dumb boss + smart employee = promotion
Dumb boss + dumb employee = overtime
3. SHOPPING MATH
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.
A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need.
4. GENERAL EQUATIONS & STATISTICS
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.
A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
5. HAPPINESS
To be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.
To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.
6. LONGEVITY
Married men live longer than single men do, but married men are a lot more willing to die.
7. PROPENSITY TO CHANGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, and she does.
8. DISCUSSION TECHNIQUE
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Girls = Time * Money (Girls are a combination of time and money)
Time = Money (Time is money)
Girls = Money squared (So, girls are money squared)
Money = sqrt(Evil) (Money is also the root of all evil)
Girls = sqrt(Evil) squared (So, girls are the root of all evil squared)
Girls = Evil (Thus, girls are evil)
*Girls=Evil credit goes to Compynerd255*

Ah - I got it, and now I'm inside the supposedly unfinished alien ship now. I was going in one direction for 40 or 50 rooms, and I was wondering why it was the same thing over and over again. Silly me, never tried looking backwards :P

Thanks DJ! If you decide to finish it, I (and lots of people) will be eagerly waiting behind you.

So Zebuth was actually Astar's father, lol. In Illusiat 12 there was Zebuth's grave with a note on it, and in the same place in 13 there's a staircase down into some dungeon. :P

</spoilers warning :P j/k it's fine lol>

But yeah he was. IIRC the note wrote "Astar Is Back" backwards. In 13 it's replaced with a dungeon where one of them actually hides. Enemy encounter rate is also higher in there. The upper part of the cave leads to that cliff leading to the 4 Limits Palace, which was renamed to something else.

In some ways, this game sounds a bit like Ys IV for the Turbografx 16 and to a lesser extent, the SNES version, because in Ys IV, you revisit many parts of Ys I and II again.

BTW, I stopped playing the first time because I ran into the bug in the screenshot in post 12.
It's back on my calc, and I've been playing it again, though.  I want to beat the game! :)

Ok, the only bug remaining should be the 4th dimension bug where you warp inside a wall (most likely an event being off, missing or skipped)

EDIT: Fixed. Was simply a typo causing you to warp in room #37, column #6, instead of room #137 of the same column.

Illusiat 13 v.0.90b should be out soon, fixing these bugs and including a several months old minor cosmetical change for saving/loading.

EDIT: there we go: http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=455

This doesn't contain any new game progress since July 7th 2009, though.

Great! Will my saved progress still work with the new version?
