In memory of Tribal (1992-2013)
« on: October 22, 2013, 09:13:14 pm »
We are sad to inform you that one of our old-time moderators and friends took his life this past weekend. Tribal was a Support staff member who joined at the start of this era of Omnimaga back in the fall of 2008. He was also a member of the community before Omnimaga: he joined Cemetech a year prior, in September 2007. In this time, Tribal did not start or work on many projects with the community; instead he devoted his time around to talking with people engaging in good conversation and making sure that the peace was kept when it needed to be. He moderated our IRC channel back when it was on Dragonfire, and continued to do so all the way into the arrival of Omninet and the botnets that connected it and EfNet. With this we are asking people that knew him well to sign this form so we can print a card out for the family and send it to them to show our sympathy and support.

The memorial service for tribal was yesterday(friday the 25th). One of our members, Rcfreak0, went to this service to show his condolences to the family and to pass along a card that had everyone who contributed it. May he rest in peace and live on in memory and heaven for along time to come

You will be greatly missed tribal. I've known him for quite a few years. I was the one who found out that he passed away from his uncle calling me and his mom contacting me about it. At first I didn't want to believe it, but sadly it is true. I'm very sad that this happened.

On a side note, his nick on irc *is* still online, and will stay on since I host it. I'm not taking it off because I don't want anyone impersonating him at all. Currently I am the only one with access to his efnet bnc. Any activity is from me or my znc freaking out like it does sometimes.

I didn't save what I sent through the form sadly, but as I said basically, I was shocked to hear this earlier from Juju when we were hanging out. You were always a great friend, helpful in many ways and now since about 3 PM when I heard about this, I think about you every 30 minute or so no matter what. It already feels like there is some extra empty space on Omnimaga now even if you weren't that active in recent years. You will always be remembered by us and I wish I could have been able to help (even if that is hard within the limits of Internet).

Farewell friend. :'(

I didn't know him/didn't ever see/chat with him, but I give my sympathies to his family.

This is especially sad for me, however, because this is the 3rd suicide of a person I knew/knew of in the past 6 months.

The first was of a concert band member and member of the robotics team, during the summer.
The second, also during the summer, was of a neighbor whose dad leads a cover band my mom plays in.
Now the third is of Tribal, and he will be missed, though I did not know him, I know of what he had done.

I only wish I could have helped these people find a better way to deal with their problems. :'(
I am Bach.

Farewell, my friend. You will sorely be missed. May your memory be forever with us.

When I learned it from Geekboy, I was shocked at fiirst, then I invited DJ over to talk about it in front of a beer. Plus that wasn't really a good time for me, I had a big exam the next day I worried I didn't studied much, but I think I did good.

That's pretty much the first time I heard the suicide of someone I knew (other than various suicides and car accidents of people I barely knew), it barely happened back in 2010 though, and one of my favorite teachers in college died or cancer this summer at 35.

Remember the day the walrus started to fly...

I finally cleared my sig after 4 years you're happy now?

We will all sorely miss Tribal. There is little I can bring myself to say. I don't know what to say in this moment. All I can say is if anyone else feels they need to talk I know I am personally available. If anybody needs to rant at someone about anything. See if I'm on IRC and if I'm not there, just send me an email at [email protected] or PM me on the forums. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I'm here to help any way I can.

I didn't know you and probably haven't even seen/met you on IRC in my time here. It's sad to see this happen. My sympathies to your family and everyone else. I don't really know what to say so to join shmibs: fuck :'(

Tribal was a cool dude. He was great to talk to and was one of the older members still active on Omnimaga. It sucks that this happened. As everyone else said, I was shocked when I heard about it; I really was not expecting this to happen.

My sympathies and best wishes go out to your family.

I didn't know tribal too well, he was pretty much inactive when I joined though I occassionally chatted with him on IRC. This really makes me feel sad. I really don't know what to say other than what shmibs said: fuck.
I will personally be making sure some flowers are sent on behalf of omnimaga as a community he will be missed :(
Thanks.
