Although I have had many long periods of complete absence, I do remember back when Tribal used to be more active on IRC.
All in all, I can't say that I really knew him, but he did seem like quite the nice guy.

I'm sad that he didn't get the help and support he could have used, but it's not always as easy to know when somebody needs help. The most broken people can seem to be the most strong ones from the outside. My condolences to everyone that knew him. It's saddening, but I respect a man's choice over his own life, may it ever be such a hard one. May he rest in peace.

yeah the issue is that some people don't express their feelings as much or they do it too late, then come the issue about not knowing each others' address/phone in most internet friendship cases or not being aware that someone does (in my case in late 2010 I was lucky because Eeems found my address in Omni hosting account then gave it to juju).

Also, for some people such as me, when we feel this down, we talk less than when feeling moderately down. I really hope no one else here has plans to do something similar.

I tend to lock myself in as well. I've been through depression for a long while and have been feeling better for the past half year with my antidepressant pills. Sadly, those don't always work. I hope that if anyone here faces any bad thoughts, issues or personal problems, we can support each other for the general better being. I know I'm an on/off sidekick member here, but I quite love some of you guys.

Not trying to offend here, but religion helps with depression. A lot of depression is caused by a subconscious awareness of guilt.

Yeah I got suggested sometimes to use anti-depressants before, but given horror stories I heard from my family about those, I was afraid that the side effects would make things worse, damage my health and getting addicted to the point where I am forced to take them forever. I don't want to do drugs to escape my problems (when any).

That can work too, although of course it requires that you aren't strongly against religion like some people. But even if you aren't practicing or don't believe, for example over here a priest sometimes visit the hospital to give hope to the people there. I thought that was nice actually.

You'd never see this happen over here.

I can't say I knew Tribal either, but I'm going to second everyone else and say I feel for his family and everyone who knew him, here or otherwise. It is a terrible loss. RIP.

By the way, I thought about putting In memory of Tribal at the beginning of some of my next calc game releases (with Omni URL or logo) before the title screen appears, particularly the next RPG if it happens soon. Do you think it would be a good idea or not?

Indeed. Also I saw some programmers dedicating games to their girlfriends or lost friend/family member before, even some commercial games IIRC, which is why I got that idea. Plus Tribal was really great.

It's a common practice in games, movies, TV episodes, even books (actually, in books, they always do that). So yeah, do it, mention him in the credits.

Wow, this comes to a shock to me as well. Tribal was always a real chill dude when I talked to him. Suicide always hits me hard. I lost an Uncle to it early on it life. My condolences to the family.

You can believe what you will, but I think your comment is out of place here.

If/when Star Trek MP comes out, if Sorunome is cool with it, I'm thinking that should also be dedicated to Tribal.
