Insanity demoted from Coders of Tomorrow
« on: August 01, 2007, 12:24:00 pm »
We are sorry to announce that Insanity (previously known as Randomist, Draconic_Oath, Chaotic, Full-Metal-Randomist, pyroxp2k, Failure21 (IRC channel), has been demoted from Omnimaga staff.

The decision of demoting him from staff was triggered by the result of many misbehaviour on 3 of the TI IRC channels, including #omnimaga, which eventually leaded to a ban on both #unitedti and #omnimaga, and several 24 hours bans on #tcpa (if not more), as well as disruption of those. The demoting is the same reason from the IRC ban (Testing scripts in public channels, ignoring people who warn him (then saying he didn't come to listen to our warnings he just came for SQL help), excessively long CTCP reply, which reduces performance of the servers, excessive nickchanges, and other similar misbehaviours).

Since it happened on IRC, we are not going to ban here on the forums unless he misbehave one single time on them, but we feel that all staff must follow rules, on both irc and forums, that they must not disturb other TI communities (we have a reputation to uphold), and must respect people (not ignore them when they are trying to help him not get banned).

We are sorry to have to do this, but this is extremes measures. This message is not intended to tarnish the person reputation at all, it is meant as an example of what happen if someone break rules, and by posting this, we are letting people know that those misbehaviours are not allowed. As for the staff demoting, it is mostly to avoid the person at fault tarnish our reputation.

We hopes the person learns a lesson and change his behaviour and that other people do not repeat what happened in the community again.

Good move. No problem with it.
There are 10 types of people in this world-- those that can read binary, and those that can't.

I'd rather not make a final judgment at this point, since I've been on the receiving end of what I thought was an unfair Omnimaga banhammer (which was later resolved :)smile.gif ), but I did see Randomist's behavior in #tcpa and other channels as violating common netiquette.

yeah, he must either be using a proxy, be on a friend comp, or it's one of his friend.

On a off topic note is it me or is saxjax linked to all forums now that have it installed?

EDIT: Kerm, you have been permbanned again for posting

to do that, I would need to host saxjax on omnimaga.unitedti.org/saxjax/ and iframe it here somewhere on the forum (I would prefer right above the affiliate box), and find a way to parse/grab/whatever new posts/login/new topic. Probably would need to make saxjax scan the today active topic page every 2 minutes to see if there's new posts and who added it.

I think you should prefix from which forums logins/posts come from though, like instead of saying "User1 added a post in topic1" say "User1 added a post in topic1 on Omnimaga", so the user wont say wtf if he get redirected to another site when clicking the topic link :Ptongue.gif, at least he'll know if its an external site or not :)smile.gif

you should make them more noticeable o.oblink.gif, not a copyright style symbol because the letter in it is too small, use a bold R/C for example ;)wink.gif

hmm, as far as I can see, the deop/ban from IRC was deserved. He was warned many, many times, yet ignored them.

edit: a quote of my post at rivereye studios:

hmm, yea, some features might be nice.

also, at Randomist(if it is randomist,) I think the ban from the channels/loss of privelidge was just. You were testing scripts after numerous people(myself included) told you not to, you were join/part flooding, you were telling people to do a CTCP version to your client, which flooded them with unexpected text, and, no offense, but recently, I've been seeing you as an all around nucicence. You try to make jokes at everything/everyone, you say random pointless stuff and you spam the channels with crap noone wants.

is this the CMS'es 1st flame thread?
