Insights into the Nspire CAS+ OS
« on: March 17, 2011, 09:33:55 pm »
As mentioned here, critor has managed to obtain more information pertaining to the flashing of an OS to TI Nspire CAS+es.  This is a major breakthrough, as it gives insight into the file system of the CAS+ prototypes.  Right now, the command prompt style interface is being explored, and hopefully exploited.  More work is being done as we speak, by critor, bsl, and Goplat, and if you have any suggestions, comment, or questions, don't hesitate to post.

A picture of one of the calculators in critor's "set up" can be found here.

The CAS+ is a "prototype" model of the CAS that was made before the actual production of the TI-Nspire CAS.  Many of them leaked to the public, and they are frequently sold on ebay for about 50 dollars.

A few other prototypes were recently hacked. I bet Critor/Bsl goal is to make Ndless possible on every existing kind of TI-Nspire prototype.

For now, an immediate goal would be to dump a CAS+ OS, in order to make it reinstallable.

Remember TI has never released the TNC update files for the CAS+.
If the OS gets corrupted and/or removed (it happened to several of us), the only thing you'll ever see on your CAS+ screen is a progress bar stuck at 60%...
