The international sections of Omnimaga forums are back. Some of the old members probably remember that on the old Invisionfree board in 2007, we had French, German, Dutch and Spanish sections to discuss about calculators and various topics. We also had another section for other languages. Eventually, the German, Dutch and Spanish sections merged with "Others".

Due to the increase in foreign users on the forums, especially French and Dutch users, we have decided to bring back some of those sections. Now you can notice one international section under calculator discussion and another under general discussion. Both contains a French, a Dutch and a miscellaneous language sub-forum, where you can discuss about calculators and other stuff.

Due to the high traffic in the projects section, we recommend showing your projects there, though, if it can be played by English users, but now it is possible to discuss in languages other than English on the forums.

Keep in mind that Omnimaga, despite having originally started as a French-only team and having got close to starting as a French website back in 2004, will remain mostly English, though, as the majority of our users are English-native and Omnimaga gets about 60% of the Z80 English TI community activity.

The front page navigation has been updated with the changes and the board rules are now available in both French and Dutch languages.

Thanks to Mapar007 for translating the rules in dutch and to NecroF-_-ckk for translating the board descriptions for the Dutch sections.

Finally, on the subject of board activity, Omnimaga just beaten a 4th specific month activity record in a row, all of which were originally set in 2006. In May that year, a total of 2386 posts were made.

I suppose I'm the Dutch board mod now, since I'm the only Dutch-speaking staff member?

I guess so. Technically there shouldn't be much to do, though, unless Dark stone joined (he got banned his first day on IRC here, altough it was a short ban), and if someone hates you due to a moderation action then he's not a good TI community member anyway (and won't be wanted here)

Growing activity is going to stay.

I have a doubt regarding international forums:
Is there any guidelines about using translators to reply sometimes?

I will participate in Portuguese or Spanish talk if that ever happens. I might try to participate in any online forum or chat in German or French in long term future.

EDIT: I think the "Other" languages sub-forum needs a pinned topic for giving an idea of what active talkers we have in other languages than French and Dutch. It might even later have rules, brief descriptions and guidelines for showcasing projects.

I did not know about Dark Stone ban... Does that demotivated him for calculator projects?

This's cool.  Personally, I'm not going to be in there much, but it's great that people can speak in their native tongues.  Great addition! ;D

People can use translators to reply if they want, altough they have to make sure they spell their original post properly so it goes through the translator well and even then, errors might occur, meaning some posts might not be totally understood well. Still better than nothing, though :P

As for the others section, feel free to help translating if you desire, altough I doubt translating the entire rules might be worth it since I doubt those other sections will get that many members

I wish I could be more useful... I don't know enough of any other language, though. (Unless you count what I know about Latin, which consists of practically all the grammar rules and a vocabulary verging on pathetic. I'm also bothering to try to learn Italian, but I can't bring myself to seek out books/internet resources, so I'm stuck with most of the grammar and virtually no vocabulary.)
What languages are permitted in the Other language section?
At any rate, it'll be interesting to have a community of multiple languages.

Wow, I installed dictionaries to Firefox and was surprised that German had a new reform. For French, I knew before because of DJ Omnimaga talk in the forums.

Anyway, we can use both the old and new grammar and orthography reforms for French?
I started to help a bit in French section, and is curious how I exchanged the ´ and ` accentuation in "très" and did not know "intéressante" had accents. French has more accents than even Portuguese (and we have a good amount). Some books of Eça de Queirós have French expressions and words so I already know some. French was very influential in Europe education and in Portugal, English started to have more influence only after my parents finished their academical education.

I don't mind which reform to use, because french varies from a country to another and some people finished school long before others (and never learned the new grammar)

As long as SMS/MSN style talk is not abused

Ok.
The same will happen to me because the Portuguese reform will be made for students one year bellow me. :P The Portuguese reform approximates European and Brazilian orthography, nice, but it is quite pragmatic for several reasons.

I hate SMS talk because without commas or stops, it can be totally ambiguous unless you read it loud (when there is possibility to get the words) and the needed pauses. ;_; MSN talk is not bad, at least in my circle of friends.
