Well, I guess so, but maybe someone can confirm this. (but for 99% of the students, they don't even ask the question, it's money saved for them not having to buy one :P)

Actually HP is more aimed towards students now with the HP Prime. A lot of engineers are not happy about that move in fact.
But still, looking at sites like HP Museum, you can see that it has a userbase of repeat customers who bought the Prime because it looked beautiful and was from HP. HP has to report to engineers because they expect a great calculator. (Whether they deliver is another matter.)

3.9.0.463 is finally out on ti's servers. Instead of 3.9.0.461, they've updated the version

Haha ! Same for me. I am keeping the good old 3.1, not even 3.6 :P

I guess no one knows. The 3.6 was made available for nlaunch by an anonymous guy when everyone tought it was impossible, so no one can predict if that guy will make the same thing with 3.9, and if he does, when this would happen.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

Nothing is impossible with Nlaunch since we can freely patch the OS. :P Only thing is that the patch needs to be ported.

IIRC, the main issue is the newer hardware revisions. I think it will be very hard to get nLaunch to work on J, K, L and later models, perhaps even harder than getting it to work under OS 3.9 on older models.

I've got an older H model cx cas though, so I still think it would be possible. In fact, I've tnoc'ed 3.9 and I'm willing to stick that straight onto my calc along with the current nlaunch and see if it works

It won't. Reason for that is, since OS 3.6 there's an extra integrity check which makes the OS self delete if you TNOC'd it.

I've read that 3.9 Lua supports MP4 and a version of an audio codec?

Hum, where ? :P

These looks like the changes related to PublishView (that's not Lua, but some kind of "presentation/page format" in which you can put Nspire apps)
