Nspire CX Officially Announced by TI!
« on: February 24, 2011, 09:56:58 pm »
Although it was announced today that the Nspire CX woudl be "released" on TI's website tomorrow at noon, it seems they have already done so:

http://education.ti.com/calculators/products/US/nspire-family/

Lots of nice pics of the new calcs are there!

Here is the rundown of the new features of OS 3.0 Release Notes:

3D Graphing
Differential Equation Graphing
New Statistics Stuff
DataQuest App
Picture Viewing

Sadly, there is no mention of new programming capabilities, or updating the 84 emulator. :(

Here are the technical specifications of the TI-Nspire CX and the TI-Nspire CX CAS:

Screen size: 320 x 240 pixels
Screen resolution: 125 DPI; 16-bit color
Powered by the TI-Nspire Rechargeable Battery (included)
Memory: 100 MB storage memory / 64MB operating memory
USB port for computer connectivity, unit-to-unit communication with other TI-Nspire family handhelds.

:w00t:

UPDATE: Some new pictures of the calculator can be found below. We are linking to them since they are big:

THanks for posting this, I was gonna post a news but was unsure if someone would beat me to it. I'll edit your post with technical specs.

100 MB of storage memory and 64 MB of operating memory seems nice, but I hope on the old Nspires OS 3.0 will not take like 30 MB O.O

Now I am curious what programming capability it will add...

According to Apcalc the calc doesn't come with a slide case. They have to be purchased separately. O.O

Greedy bastards...

EDIT: Since it was supposed to be announced at noon time tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if they removed the site pages until then now that people found out, but again maybe they'll not. In case, however, I made a low quality video where I navigate through parts of the new site sections :D

This is great news, but

Wait, what? Every calculator since the TI-80 has had a slide case! D: What is TI doing?

And still no signs of any decent programming functions or assembly... Hopefully we still can someday.

But on the other hand, the specs are great. Especially for student use.

Now if only we could use it...

Does that mean 128mb of flash and 64mb of ram, just imagine what we could do with a color screen and that much space. Come on TI, you know we'll find a way in eventually.  :banghead:
It is bad luck to be superstitious.

I wonder what compatibility with older nspires actually is....I don't see anything in the docs. They probably switched keys too :(

BTW android could prob. run on this :)

No case ?! O_O

The wi-fi thingy, will we able to actually utilize it?
(Well, the only thing that I can think of is.... color screen + touchpad + wi-fi = StarCraft in nspire...)

Seems like there isn't going to be an 84+ emulator on the CX...

A CAS allows you to use a lot of extra functions (like simplifing and expanding equations) that the ACT board apparently wants you to be able to do in your head...
