OS 3.0.1 back online... what about 3.0.2?
« on: May 14, 2011, 02:58:20 pm »
It seems that TI has put OS 3.0.1 back online. However there are still no news about OS 3.0.2. The link to OS 3.0.1 was recently spotted by Critor.

OS 3.0.1 contains a new Boot2 image that can permanently brick your TI-Nspire calculator and an anti-downgrade protection. To get rid of those problems after installing the OS, you needed special hardware. To prevent this from happening you needed to use TNOC to remove the Boot2 image from the OS file, before installing the tno/tnc on your machine.

If, for any reasons, you need OS 3.0.1, such as to run Lua games, you can download it in this topic. Older OSes like OS 1.7, 2.0.1 and 2.1 are also linked there (hosted on TI server).

We do hope that 3.0.1 doesn't become available again from their front page until they fixed errors in it. In any case, do NOT forget TNOC, before installing the OS!

Hum, so they haven't fixed any bugs? This is not so good :(

I just hope nobody tries to install it with TNOC.

Thanks for reminding DJ.

Without TNOC, you mean?

Erm, any chance this is a new version that fixes the bugs, but TI forgot to update the version number? Seems like a really bad idea to put it online again.

Should point out that you probably shouldn't test though, unless you know how to unbrick Nspires (using extra hardware).

I wouldn't be surprised if they did that... I mean, they're probably thinking that the old 3.0.1 is completely gone from existence now that it isn't on their website, or maybe they want to hide the fact that a glitchy OS existed...

Can someone compare the two with an ips file (don't distribute it, of course)?  I really hope they did not re-release the file; that would be beyond stupid.

I thought IPS was only for rom's? :o
Loved this place, still the best producers of power metal, and sparked my dreams of coding.

Not really, it was only discovered a few days ago. The file location has been moved, because old links no longer worked in the OS thread.

OS 3.0.1 was released 2 weeks ago, then it was removed from TI website after they discovered the bug. The link to the OS would now give a 404 not found.

Please don't try to prove people wrong when they are right and have proof that they are.

TI might make it so that TNOC bricks the calc just to get at us.

well, ti has been pretty stupid so far, so I would not be surprised if that happened :/
