Anyway, people aren't going to download it if they don't link to it. Your average student/teacher doesn't try to guess URLs for a OS that nobody wants :P

The average student or teacher has no clue, they just buy a calc and use it.  Even the people at the tinspire google groups believe everything that ti says and they blindly defend everything that ti does and the moderator won't allow any discussion that could fix that ignorance.

So many people at my school are still stuck on OS 1.xx for their TI-83 plus.  I don't think this will affect those who don't know about the dangers of 3.0.1.

Can someone compare the two with an ips file (don't distribute it, of course)?  I really hope they did not re-release the file; that would be beyond stupid.
I thought IPS was only for rom's? :o

An IPS file is basically a list of differences between one file and another.  It is usually used to distribute modifications in roms.  It can be used to compare anything.

Do they also delete posts denouncing TI behavior or the group behavior? I think I remember on Univers-TI-Nspire official TI-Nspire board some posts from Critor/Mic defending the TI community would be deleted. The same thing happened on Facebook, and TI-France even got Critor's FB account taken down once.

Google groups is an e-maii/forum gateway. Even if they deleted posts that stray from TI's official line on the forum side (which they don't), they couldn't remove them from the subscribers' inboxes :)

I've seen that one of the moderators on there has attempted to stop a discussion about flaws of how trig functions were accessed in 3.0, so they're trying to censor the discussions there somewhat, but they're not explicitly deleting anything. They probably don't have to do as much there since it's supposed to be teacher-only.

Oh right, I forgot about inboxes. Kinda like forum posts here if we decided to delete them, but still different since most people got subscriptions disabled here.

But yeah it seems like they try to hide some bad stuff TI did, to make them look good. Plus it sucks they censor it because some teachers would like to be informed if the calcs their students use contain bugs.

yeh, like here: http://groups.google.com/group/tinspire/browse_thread/thread/239ac185698d3da4
TI still posts the message that they will have an update available for the 3.0 os before mid May and the nspire google group blindly spews the same thing even though we are past mid-may.  Then if someone there takes issue with that Rex the moderator will step in and stop the discussion.  That kind of censorship kills any possiblility of those people will ever start living in the real world.

Precisely, "Or we wait until 'mid-May' for os3.1  sigh." is probably not a blind spewing - at least, I didn't interpret it that way ;)
And Rex did not come into every discussion that strayed from the official line of thinking :)

True.  I've been reading that site since it came up years ago and amazingly your posts there were not stopped.

Nice! I hope it doesn't get delayed again and is stable!

@Dingus I think they just grew some hate against the community over the last few years, so now anything that agree with the developer community is censored. The thing, though, is that TI shouldn't go too far, because look what hackers did to Sony in response to their many stunts including taking someone into court for modding his PS3. I'm pretty sure if TI went too far, the exact same thing, although to a lesser extent, given the much smaller community size compared to PS3 gamers, could happen to TI.

Wait where? Any proof for it? If I go to the OS updates page at http://education.ti.com/calculators/products/US/os-update/ , it still says the notice about OS 3.0 having been removed and not available for a while. ???

EDIT: Nevemind, on TI-BANK it said it would be out in a week or so and I didn,t see your topic.
