OS 3.0.1 removed from TI website

As reported by critor on Omnimaga and TI-BANK, TI has removed OS 3.0.1 from their website and was replaced with OS 2.1:

No direct link to OS 2.1 is available there, but if you visit the specific calculator pages, you should eventually find your way to the older OS.

Note that Lua is only available on OS 3.0.1 and that you need Nleash if you decide to downgrade from OS 2.1.0 to an older OS. Also OS 2.1 size is much larger than others.

From what I last read, at least 8 bricked calculators were reported online since the release of OS 3.0.1. If you still can find copies of OS 3.0.1 around, remember to use TNOC prior installing it on your calculator!

There has been other reports of bricked TI-Nspire all around the web on very various sites.

You can even find some on sites like Yahoo Answers for example...


Something like 15 bricked calculators reported online up to now to my knowledge.

TI has officially disowned their OS until further notice.  I can only infer that they are going to do either a massive debugging, change the Boot2 back to normal, or just not release it or the CX for a while longer.

have they recompensated the bricked calculators of those unfortunate owners? ti that is? and yeah that stinks esp since i lost my nspire and it has os 3.0. if i find it lets hope its not too late. how could ti miss something that big?

Hope you find it soon D: But then if you don't care about anything on it, you can always get a new one from TI. They probably would replace it for you.

How'd they miss all those other bugs (MP bugs, 1.1 power bug, etc.)? ¯\(°_o)/¯ (Yes, that was stolen from Geekboy1011. Hope you don't mind.)

Aarg!  I can't believe they actually released something like this.  (This real, this time. :P)

Also, I wonder what TI will do to compensate those with bricked calculators.

Knowing TI they will claim that is was us messing with the boot sector and not their own bugs that caused the bricked calcs to occur. Remember that TI Doesn't Care :P

1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine  for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

How can they blame it on us if this problem happens to people that are not affiliated with the TI community.  They have no way of telling.  Judging from TI's past actions, I don't think they will do much.

I think they'll fix any calc that calls into ti-cares for free, fix whatever was fubar'd, and re-release it.

I doubt they'll tell us any of that, though.

I hope not, although we never know. I hope they don't restrict access to Lua...

If they do, I planned to do like Cemetech, though, and post some sort of news encouraging people to boycott the CX and get a PRIZM instead (or an older TI calc. /me loves his 84+)

I'm pretty sure they remove Lua. IF so, someone should host a fixed 3.0.1 one on his site (I can do)

I don't think TI will necessarily remove Lua, but they might make it incompatible with user made programs and only allow TI made Lua programs. The other possibility is that they might restrict Lua to something like less graphics operations and/or slower speed. And I'm really starting to wonder now, if we all hate TI so much then why do we buy their calcs. I've been loyal to them on the 84 side, but all of this nspire and CX stuff just makes me mad.
