With the end of the Summer, the start of the new school year, the programming contest judging and voting processes having begun and several new projects and updates, Omnimaga has broken new activity records for September and reached some milestones. There were also some website updates.
Among the website updates, there was a major one that some people are already aware of, but it will be officially announced somewhere next week, probably before the end of the contest judging. Besides that, we have recently discovered that SMF had a quick-edit option, but the icon did not even look close to such option, so we have decided to change it to make it more visible. It allows you to edit your posts without refreshing the page, as long as one of those 500 Internal Server Error won't strike. Here is how it looks like:
Besides that, the
forum mobile versions are now easily accessible from the front page, in the same box as where you could access the radio, below the latest posts list. The post notifier SirCmpwn posted in the previous
news article is also available there.
As for contest judging, I have finished judging the entries and am now waiting for results from the two other judges. In the meantime, the survey
is still running until October 11th. Don't forget to vote!
Now for the statistic milestones:
-First of all, the forums have reached a new monthly posting record with September 2010. Beating the previous record of 7427, set last month, the new Omnimaga monthly posting record is now
OVER NINE THOUSAND!!! A grand total of 9325 topic and replies were made in one single month, 60% of what we got in the entire year of 2009.
-Secondly, this new record allowed Omnimaga to easily break the 50000 posts milestone for the first 9 months of 2010 with exactly 50862. 60% of those were made in the past 4 months.
-Third, the last streak of days of at least 200 posts in a row mentionned
in an earlier news article has continued for the rest of the month. The last time the forums had less than 200 posts in one day was 20 days ago, on September 10. During all of September, only 3 days under 200 occured.
-Fourth, during this month, 15 days (basically half of the month) had at least 300 posts, 5 of which had at least 400 and 2 of which had at least 500. Our record of 462 posts in one day (set on July 19th 2010) was beaten on September 19th with 479 messages (more than what we got in the entire October 2008 month) then once again on September 26th with 553 (more than December 2008 as a whole). We went close to do it again just now, with 530.
You can check the
board statistics and the updated monthly graph for more details. As guest, not all stats are visible, though.
-Traffic-wise, September 2010 had 488321 forum page views, 1282296 file requests excluding OmnomIRC refresher and 140286 unique visits. All of those are records as well.
Hopefully, next month, we should move to a new host, which should solve the intermittent downtimes we have been getting lately. Stay tuned for updates on both the site and members/staff projects as well!
Thanks to everyone for contributing to this growing community!
UPDATE (October 6th): Five and half a day after posting this news article, the October monthly posting record of 1951, set in 2007, has been broken already.
