Portal Prelude released
« on: November 30, 2012, 11:25:43 pm »
EDIT: Hey guys, if you've got a Reddit account and want to show Builder a little support, check out his thread here and give him all your upvotes! Reddit Thread

EDIT2: And if you want to stalk Builderboy he gave ticalc a nice interview here: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148116.html Congrats on the feature!

One of the first projects started in Axe, Portal Prelude (formerly Portal X) was started over two and a half years ago by Builderboy. Today it has been released!

Welcome to Aperture Laboratories!  Long before GLaDOS ever ran the facility, step into the shoes of a test subject and test the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device (ASHPD) for yourself!  Test your way through 38 devious test chambers using Portals, in addition to many other intriguing gameplay elements such as plasma balls and electric fields.

Portal Prelude is similar in gameplay to Portal: The Flash Version, a side-on puzzle platformer game based on the same premise as Valve's famous game, complete with realistic Builderboy-esque physics. It's not quite 3D, but it's an amazing feat and a great way to pass the time (even if you don't really have the time to kill <_<) testing your ability to think with portals. And High Energy Pellets and cubes and all that fun stuff.

It won't send to my calc, I think I broke it :[ Everytime I try to send it, it flashes "Garbage Collecting" then the error XMIT, then my calc crashes. Before this, it was saying there wasn't sufficient memory, though I had >200000 bytes of archive space and I eventually removed enough stuff to make it >300000. It's an 84+, by the way, using TIConnect. I think I must have either messed up my OS or TIConnect can't handle such a large app XD (But it sent Pokémon Red to my SE 0_o)

Grr, I figured out the problem--- You forgot to resign the app :P I just resigned it and instead of being 192KB, the file is now a little over 38KB and sends to the calc properly.

Do we absolutely have to re-sign the app before being able to use it? If so, then Builderboy you might have to update your readme or release a version that won't force you to re-sign (unless Axe no longer supports that?)

And Adriweb that would be cool. Just make sure it supports multiple keypresses, though, because I think some puzzles might require you to shoot portals while moving around simultaneously.

If someone ever makes this in Nspire or PRIZM C, maybe this could be ported to 68K as well.

EDIT: Bug report from TI-Planet: On OS 2.55MP, the 9 key shoots upwards instead of diagonally down-right.
