Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Rubric

We are now 2 weeks into the contest! and with that I am posting the grading guidelines for this year. It is attached as a text file please read it over!

Now in 2-3 weeks I will be posting another news with the final details about the prizes as they finish being solidified/acquired.

just shy of 4 Weeks left, have fun and don't slack it comes up quick! Good luck!


Note: This rubric is subject to minor changes from now until the end of the contest. That being said, what is already there will not change but, stuff may be reworded or added.

First copy i get is what i will be accepting easiest for me and Imo is fair to stop you from getting points based on an uncompleted work.

yes and no. at the very least keep a list of what variables are what for us. if you can ofc we wont be to strict on it but it will hold minor weight. (like 3 points for basic or something)

Personally I would only force the usage of comments where it doesn't harm gameplay speed. Strings are slow in BASIC so using comments (which stores to Ans) can put considerable extra load in the program.

Also are there any contest restrictions based on respective country lottery/contest guidelines like some other contests (I know for example that all Nintendo contests excludes Quebec residents) or is this only when the contest is affiliated with an official company like TI?

Honestly all i want out of the comments is for us to be able to skim the code and know what is mostly going on with out having to debug it. so variable descriptions should be fine. and maybe just string lables if need be

That would be a better idea actually. Then you can put as many comments as you can lol. Although the games are mainly judged for originality rather than coding, I don't think the staff will put a big note on an RPG that runs at 1 images per second only because comments are slowing it down this much. :P
