Title: The story behind the TI-84+ C discovery
Post by: Adriweb on November 10, 2012, 09:53:07 am
You probably didn't miss the big news : the discovery of a new TI-84 model : the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition.

Indeed, this impressive new born is surprising everyone, since it was believed that a colored future actually belonged to the Nspire series (with the CX, released in 2011).

But do you know the real story behind this discovery, which actually began ... a month ago !?

This model started its public appearance in an unusual way... :
Impressive, right ?

It's very interesting to see the way news like this trickles down and who gets the credit.

I can't believe that no one noticed that tweet!  How does that happen?

I think the problem is that many people are following too many people at once or they follow blogs that posts like 100 tweets a day. As a result, any tweet will go down the list in one single hour unless you check Twitter at 5 AM and the tweet is posted one hour before.

And yeah ralph it's kinda disappointing that on some sites Cemetech wasn't even listed as the source, when it's a member there who found about the calc (and even posted a pic). Thankfully Engadget and calc sites included them as source, though, but I guess not being cited can happen when multiple blogs relay each others.

Hmm apparently, according to Mic on TI-BANK (who contacted TI-Cares), TI has no plans to release the calc in France... O.O

It's not like either TI-doesn't-care, or that person's writings, are known for accurate and reliable information - but only time will tell, I guess.

I've never seen job ad spam before. They must be really a really ****ty company to need to spam for positions. (The giveaway that it's spam is that no specific company is named in the post. Also, the descriptions are excessively generic and vague.)

DJ_O, I don't have such information.

If it was allready decided, we would allready have newsed about this - and you should know TI-Planet is a reliable source.

And by the way, I never trust TI-Cares answers for such questions. They're most of the time either incomplete, either incorrect, either inappropriate (copy/paste), either inexistant.
I would never make a news based on what TI-Cares could answer.

Ok thanks for the info. And yeah I know TI-Planet is a reliable source. I wasn't sure because it seemed like the France version of TI-Cares gave more legit answers than the automated crap the US version sends everytime. I know it wasn't great, but nowhere as brutal as what we got in North America.

I hope it eventually comes out in France. It would suck if they decided to make it US-only (although if the TI-84 Pocket C SE eventually becomes a reality, maybe that could explain why?)

Not to mention that even if they had access to such information (which they usually don't) it is highly unlikely that they would be allowed to divulge anything. TI-Cares is quite low on the totem poll so to speak.
