Isn't that how we all started with calculator programming (or at least addicted to making them)?

Nope.
I was just bored in math class, saw that they could be programmed, learned how after a while, then realized that there is actually other people who thought about using a calculator for games.

saw people playing games in classes, mostly Tetris and Nibbles (old TI-82 version from 1997 or so), got interested in getting a calc to make games, playing some while learning to code, then made more games and discovered that other people on the internet made calculator games, then made/played more and eventually started participating in forum discussions

We would not be here if we did not love what we do!

More or less same for me, but in addition to tetris it was breakout, penguins and duckhunt. OH and alot of really old BASIC games of course. ;)

For those who don't frequent IRC often, many videos were added to this serie since it started. Now there are 27. The last one featured a RPG that was not that great, but I still felt it deserved a mention since it was made by Joltima author back in 1997, was one of the first BASIC Action-RPG on calc and kinda inspired me for Zelda DLQ

I saw that video and thought it was very nice.  I really like the 3 enemys on the screen at one time.  Although it's slow, it's very cool.

Well, even with 3 enemies, I was sure this could be done faster, which is why I tried Zelda DLQ afterward. Finally I just allowed two enemies max at once, though. I am certain with my new coding knowledges, DLQ could be faster if completly rewritten, though, and even faster if written by someone like Builderboy

(^.^) I guess i'm the king of speed now? XD

I remember nothing was harder than the variable character engine i had to built for Portal 2.  I had to rewrite it 3 times before i got it to work.

Well, I am fairly sure Weregoose and Darkerline are, but they hardly do games, so you would most likely be the or one of the king of speed who also make games :P

I'll reveal it within a week...
I'm done with the walking engine.
I was hoping to have more progress on the battle engine, but I've hit a little snag.  I can't make good animations. :P

wow, same here. I can't seem to work on battle engine. It's the most annoying engine, because it's the most important one...
