TI-84 Plus Pocket SE
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:32:12 pm »
Remember the TI-84 Pocket.fr which was a smaller version of the basic TI-84 Plus with french keys?
It was also including a 1.03 Boot Code with a 2048-bits RSA validation which needed an additional 6-7 minutes to install an OS and did refuse any 2.53MP or older OS, until Brandon made it possible to modify/reflash the Boot Code.

TI-Asia is launching today the TI-84 Plus Pocket SE, yes a smaller version of the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition this time!

Which means it has 1.5MB archive memory (2MB Flash ROM) instead of 480KB (1MB Flash ROM) on the TI-84 Pocket.fr model.

As the keys are in english this time, it might be released in other countries.

Pocket refers to the size. It is a mini version of the original :)

Back on topic:

I think that DJ is right about the calc's colors being a little bland. But the size is cool :)

Back in 2011 when the 84 Pocket.Fr was announced, Critor put it side by side with a TI-80 and a 84+ and it was the same size as a 80, so this is where the pocket comes from.

I don't like the new design as much as the non-SE pocket, though :(, for some reasons. I think it's a bit too bland. (not enough colors) :/ I guess it's cool that it's smaller, though. I found the original 84+ to be a bit bulky/
Me piéger. Tu n'as pas des partiels à réviser levakounet ? Tu passes ton temps à venir pourrir mon site.
Je vous cite dans des news. Chez vous, vous préférez vous faire trouer que d'évoquer TI-BANK. TI-Planet et ses modos canalisent la haine.
First of all Mic:

1) This is an english forum. Speak english, not French, or at least post a translation of your posts.

2) Secondly you initially didn't cite TI-Planet in your news, until they complained. I remember a few months ago reading complains about that.

3) In half of the TI-BANK news, you used to constantly attack TI-Planet or its staff. Today you don't do it as much, but you still do: http://www.ti-bank.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=1413 and I quote:

Quote
Il y en a, en ce moment, qui testent (mal d'ailleurs) des périphériques pour TI-Nspire et bien, en entendant que TI-BANK le fasse correctement, voici un petit test complètement fun !
English translation:

"There are people, at the moment, who test (and are doing it wrong) TI-Nspire perhipherals, so, until TI-BANK does it right, here is a small and fun test!"

Basically it is saying that TI-Planet team sucks at testing new calculator perhipherals. It cannot mean anything else, because TI-Planet team are the only people besides yourself that actually do such tests in the TI community.

I never see anything in TI-Planet news that is bashing TI-BANK.

3) Critor, being close to TI and checking TI website everyday for news, most likely found about the calculator around the same time you did, if not before. Could be pure coincidence, so don't jump on false accusations towards him or TI-Planet. Same goes for your accusations about TI-Planet starting hate. Heck, maybe Critor knew about the Pocket SE for months but was not allowed to reveal it until today, after all. And there's nothing wrong with working for TI if it means that Lua language can be improved and that TI can be convinced harder to not block Ndless in future OSes.

On topic please everyone! I understand the dilemma here, but it's over and done with now. Continuing to discuss it will only cause continued problems. Moving forward, we'll all try to do our part to not have problems like this, agreed?

In reference to the new calculator, is there an encryption at all on the OS like the encryption that was mentioned in the original post? If so do we know what it is?

Does anyone have the actual dimensions (in centimeters and inches please for those of us who use either or) of the model so we have reference to what the size difference with the new unit is?

Aaroneusthegreat note that the Omnimaga rules always disallowed censoring anyone, though. Also it might be best that you leave it to other moderators, since you haven't been around for a while and don't know what happened.

I had to rate down your post for disallowing us to defend ourselves against Mic attacks. Sorry.

And yeah I meant working with TI in terms of knowing some stuff in advance.
