TI-BANK has revealed the first pictures for the new TI-84 Pocket.Fr model, which will be available in June in France. According to them, the screen is the same size as a regular TI-84 Plus, but with the design change we can already notice it will be smaller than the regular design. It appears that it may be a similar height to the old TI-80. Also, the "Plus" word has been truncated from the calculator name too.

Will this calculator have the same hardware as other TI-84 Plus calculators? Regardless, you can find the pictures as well as additional information below:

-First TI-84 Pocket.Fr image
-Larger one (includes a 610x1000 image link)
-Comparing its size with other models, based on LCD size info

On the TI-Nspire side, Critor has posted a quite scary TI-Nspire CX picture on TI-BANK forums:

We hope that the calculator in this image was in low-power mode. O.O

Is there a real picture (like, taken with a camera) of the 84 pocket?
It looks great tho.

Not yet, sadly. Hopefully there will be some soon.

I hope the LCD isn't as laggy as the one on the regular Nspire.

hmmm the cx just seems to be in bad lighting... so with the ti 84 pocket model, is there any differences besides its look and screen? aka more programming functions, improved graphics, better rendering memory or RAM?

I bet the 84+ has a similar hardware, but since the calc is smaller, I hope they didn't remove RAM or archive. I also kinda worry about the removal of the Plus name: I hope it doesn't mean the removal of flash memory support as well. (TI-83/92 == no flash and TI-83+/92+ == flash support)

As for the CX I hope the screen was just in low power mode, because otherwise the Prizm screen is most likely better. Even under bad light, if the screen had a backlight we should still see stuff kinda well.

Yeah, we're going to have to come up with something other than 84P now... maybe 84Pk?

good point, but even though the calc is smaller, i'd imagine since chips and such have gotten smaller yet more powerful, they didn't have to remove much. thats my guess.
And yeah, I don't think ti would advertise this color backlit screen if it was that dark. thatd just be dumb advertising.

Yeah true, although maybe the screen just looks bad under certain angles. I remember old LCDs did that. Even the Prizm looks weird under certain angles, but it didn't seem to look that bad no matter what.

that too it seemed to be at an odd angle. im sure you could easily get behind the screen to get a brighter backlight anyways... its usually not difficult with normal lcd screens.

Another possibility is that the CX screen doesn't have that great a viewing angle, given the angle of the shot. But seriously, the Pocket (Pok[e acute accent]calc?) looks nice.

My concern is if it's because of the bad angle, then why the Prizm screen is still fine at such angle? ??? To me it looks like TI might not be using the same quality LCD or backlight. I hope the LCD won't be passive either.

I hope those aren't dithering lines I see on the screen...

Where's the dithering? And why is the cx picture scary?
