TI community updates
« on: December 12, 2008, 07:37:07 pm »
Dan Cook has recently started working again on his old Squirrelbox (Antidisassemblage) project and posted an Alpha version of it at http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/414/41454.html . For those who don't remember, this software allowed you to program in a simplified version of Java to produce calculator games faster than TI-BASIC but easier than ASM. Unfortunately the previous version also had bugs but seeing progress resuming on this, we may see a bug-free version released in the future.

On United-TI Digitan has continued progress on RoboWar flash-APP port and Robot War 2.

Also, on #omnimaga about a week ago, tr1p1ea has posted a screenshot of an upcoming update to Desolate, this time featuring 8 level grayscale and tile reflection effects.

If you're still alive past this screenshot, there haven't been a lot of updates recently about Calc84maniac's Super Mario game Project M, F-Zero and {AP} has gone missing in action until this summer, but there have still been progress for those who don't check the forums regulary. Don't forget to check the projects section regulary to see progress on our staff projects (and screenshots). Metagross111, our currently most active member, also got a nice Pokémon Stadium clone in the works here. Pokémon Purple has been going slowly lately, but it's sure not dead.

Also don't forget to check Simplethinker's Chips Challenge progress (and eye-candy) at http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=27.0 .

Since this month began, the TI community has been going slightly slower, after activity risen for the entire November month (where Omnimaga went 1 post close to break the 1000 post/month bar for the first time in 11 months). Most users have probably ended at the hospital for heart attacks after checking recent screenshots of Zelda at Revsoft forums.

On a unrelated note, there have also been forum updates. Most forum mods installed were updated to their most recent versions.

Not quite "missing"... just hibernating.
I was bored at one time and started a sidescrolling game.
Just to see if I could do it... and now that I have the engine... I'll be going back to Nyaar!

Don't worry, mates.
Progress will happen... just slowly.

Also, nice to hear some of these other games are still being worked on and updated.
(Mainly the LoZ game.)

cool, well I was a bit worried that you were planning to stop posting completly until you moved, as your last post was about the real life issue and a lot of previous members (not only on Omnimaga) usually never worked on their projects again after stopping for about 4 months x.x. I do hope you return and that things goes well for you though. Personally moving wasn't too hard for me but it was sure different since I had less money and time, especially at the beginning since we had to clean the appartment before moving in and it was real dirty x.x

That Desolate screenshot is pretty awesome.  It seems like the community is active again for the first time in ages.  Awesome :D.

the Desolate update is pretty sweet, but I don't think it will convince me to actually play it again. though i do recommend it to people who haven't played yet.

personally I can't wait, altough tr1p1ea said it might be 84+ specific. It will work on 83+/SE but especially on 83+ grayscale will look horrible. He would need to write a second version of the game just for the 83+ so that gs looks better and he can't because he doesn't own a 83+
