TI-Connect 4.0 for Mac released
« on: March 06, 2013, 01:18:56 am »
Texas Instruments seems to have released TI-Connect version 4.0 for Macintosh on their site today.

The file is dated from March 5th 2013 and it appears to be the version that was supposed to support the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, but the Windows version of TI-Connect 4.0 isn't out yet (the site still has version 1.6.1 from 2010).

Among the potential features, according to the calculator page, the following are supposed to be included:

-Higher chances of detecting your calculator
-Higher chances of detecting your cable
-Higher chances of running
-Working TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition support
-Working image/picture transfer

Those who got a Mac might want to check it out to see what's new and included.

Hopefully this will finally work. All the other times I tried TI Connect(on different macs) it refused to work.

EDIT:NOOO! It only works on 10.6 and above. So we are stuck with a TI connect that'll never work.

Eh, 10.6 is getting quite old...
(Also, I think the previous version worked in mid versions of 10.5 ?)

Anyway, I've made screenshots :

I'm not going to BUY another version of mac. Besides I'm not sure it even works on this laptop.
I have 10.5.8, so if you know one that works with that, that'd be awesome.

Arg, I'm sorry but I think it's compatible only up to 10.5.6 or something :(
Bad luck for those in the [10.5.7-10.6.0[ range .....

(Also, your mac is PPC then ? So emulating windows wouldn't really be possible (/well) .... What about Linux, then Tilp ?

Here should be other computers that I can use.
I don't have a PPC, but an intel. Would an emulator support usb?

Good virtualizations solutions should do the trick.

So they updated an outdated version of TI-Connect that ran on almost nothing with a version that runs on even fewer OS versions, not even the ones that a lot of people still use? O.O

Hmmm, no ?
Before, it ran on > 10.3/4 and < 10.5.7 or something, and now, on anything > 10.6.0, which is the vast majority (since we are at 10.8 ), so it's not bad at all.

Oh ok, I thought the old one only ran on Mac OS 9.x or below. I might have confused it with TI-Graph Link, though.

I have had nothing but problems with TI-Connect on my Mac...it actually worked better before this update. No I get an error about "The attached device failed to respond with a specified time. Please check your link connections and try again." I had a heck of a time getting it to work yesterday. I finally got stuff sent to my calc by going to my windows side. I might have to get a silver link cable my usb port might be crapping out.

Yeah, so far it just seems so buggy that few people can get it to work. >.<

I hope at least that it won't be as bad as HP Connectivity Kit, though (it rarely ever detects your calc, crashes when the calc is unplugged and it doesn't even send stuff at all to the calc)
