My friend and I have a theory: TI is going to create an appstore for the CX. This is the only possible reason we can think of for the existence of a Wi-Fi module and the crippling of programming.
In other news, Frey continues kicking unprecedented levels of ass.

Well i think ti may start to realize that their monopoly can and most likely will be challenged. so they really need to start picking it up making a stronger, better calculator thats more relevant. if they keep limiting people they will go to the more attractive choices. my question is when is the calculator just going to be almost a computer? where will they draw the line?

Let's try to guess what the remainging free space (with no user documents in memory) will be.
4Mb on the basic TI-Nspire, and 6Mb on the CAS TI-Nspire ? We wouldn't be able to play nDoom any more!
They've finally found out how to prevent students from using Ndless and playing games: after the "no programming", comes the "no memory"! :P
Using a modified nspire_emu, modified boot2, and modified OS, I got a screenshot of what it would look like if the TI-Nspire had 128MB of flash, like the CX, instead of just 32MB. If we take TI's claim that the CX has 100MB of storage available, this suggests that OS 3.0 is no more than 3.7MB larger than 2.1. (Note it could be smaller than that, since the 100MB figure might just be rounded down, so don't get outraged just yet.)

What do you mean by "see that"? You won't see OS 2.x running on the CX, of course.

If you saw that the CX had 103.7 MB available, that would be great; it would mean the OS hadn't grown at all.

One worry I have is if Nspire CX OS 3.0 is 3 MB larger than OS 2.1 for the regular calcs and the regular ones' OS 3.0 includes 84+ emulation, would this means for regular TI-Nspires the OS size increase would be even greater than that?

There wouldn't be a greater increase, but it would still be larger than the CAS OS as usual. (Well, unless they decided to bloat the emulator some more for this version, but I doubt they even touched the emulator except to use OS 2.55MP)

Did you notice how the TI-Nspire CX screen is much smaller than the TI-Nspire screen?

I couldn't find the screen dimensions on TI website, so I've just calculated them.
The TI-Nspire CX screen is 25% smaller, no bigger than a TI-83+/84+ screen.

Find all dimensions and schematics in the TI-Bank news:

Hmm, seems like they fixed the huge calc issue (lots of people dislike how big the TI-Nspire is), but the trade-off was a smaller screen. I think the Prizm screen size was fine, but that's because fonts are so big. If the TI-Nspire CX fonts are as small as on the old one as well as other interface elements, it's gonna be much harder to read the screen...

I'm not opposed to a smaller screen if it means this thing will fit in my pocket. I bet it also improves battery life as opposed to a larger screen.

Also, at least we are not losing any of the screen resolution.  As per TI's website, it is still 320x240.  Likewise, I will be willing to give up screen size if the thing fits in my pocket! :P

EDIT:  Snake_X, can you provide any information on this?

One thing I don't understand, though, is why doesn't the LCD take almost the entire calc width? On the Prizm, the LCD does...

I wonder if TI would ever consider selling an SD card adapter slide case.....

The backlight for the color screen is going to render the battery savings from the smaller screen useless. Then again, TI might have used more efficient components this time around seeing how bad the battery life on current models is compared to an 84.
