I'm not opposed to a smaller screen if it means this thing will fit in my pocket. I bet it also improves battery life as opposed to a larger screen.
The backlight for the color screen is going to render the battery savings from the smaller screen useless. Then again, TI might have used more efficient components this time around seeing how bad the battery life on current models is compared to an 84.
Well, I meant savings compared to a larger backlit color screen. And the battery is rechargeable anyway :D

Plus, they'll have a Li-Ion built in, so it should get 6-8 hours at the least, unless they really skimped (which, judging by the backup for the touch models. they didnt)

I hope they implement my suggestion I sent to TI-Cares. SD Card adapter slide case (think like the lab kit, but SD card slot.)
I got a reply back, and it said they will definitely pass along my suggestion, so we can hope :)

SD card adapter would be nice, although I bet they would sell it for quite a big amount of money and it would be hard to find offline.

If it's a li ion battery, then after 5 or so years, schools will have to replace all (!) of their batteries because the calc won't last even a whole class period without recharging.

If the battery is built in, I hope TI makes it replaceable if it only lasts 5 years. That would kinda suck if the calc was no longer functional after that time (unless we can also use regular AAA/AA batteries?)

With their new, slimmer design, there might not be room. At least casio tried to keep the battery life closer to the traditional calc.

Seems like they also did some changes to the Nspire GUI in v3.0.

Yeah to me it looked different. It didn't seem that much easier to get used to, though. I still much prefer the empty TI-83+ screen and pressing keys to open menus.

Yeah it will. I'M not sure if it will keep 84+ emulation, though. If it does, it will most likely be pretty large.

Also I wonder if the new CX will support mass storage device mode for transfer? Haven't TI learned from the many connection issues people get with TI-Connect and link software?

I dont think they will implement that, because it will make file transferring at school too much easy x.x

Maybe, but currently it's a major PITA to get TI-Connect and other softwares to work even at home. Some people have to reformat their computer. Also if file transfering at school was too easy, then why is the Casio Prizm, which supports MSD mode, allowed there?

This is something that would be implemented in software, not in hardware, so the real question is if the new OS 3.0 will support it. I'd say unlikely:

1) they would have to switch from their currently used Datalight Reliance filesystem, to something that PC operating systems can recognize (i.e. FAT) - so anyone upgrading their calculator to the new OS would lose all their documents.
2) TI probably doesn't want us able to easily mess around with stuff outside /documents (remember how Ndless 1.1 worked?)

Ah, right. Too bad. :/

I wonder if then there would be a way for them to at least make their linking softwares more efficient? I absolutely hate how all of a suddent, one day, my 84+ is no longer detected for a week by my computer, then magically, it starts working again the next week, even without rebooting.
