TI Releases the new OS
« on: February 15, 2010, 01:01:12 pm »
TI has officially released the new OS, boasting of mathprint and a history list of past equations you entered like omnicalc was able to do.
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/downloadcenter/SoftwareDetail.do?website=US&tabId=1&appId=6014
Due to the lack of compatability with lots of software it is recommended that you do not install this on a real calc but on an emulator.

Here's the skinny.

For games and the like, OS 2.43.
For ACTUAL math (pssh, who does that anymore?), OS 2.53MP.
Bug me about my book.

lol, and even with 2.43 you can get all the functionality that 2.53MP has with third party apps.

I won't upgrade because I doN,t even have a real 84+ anyway. I got one 83+ that still works fine, a defective 83+SE and a TI-Nspire

It's too bad 2.43 isn't still on the TI site...

French TI sites tend to be lax on providing downloads of TI OSes, despite that not being so legal. I guess you could maybe hunt for an old OS on them, else I am certain certain other sources (or people) may have them.

I wonder if anyone has verified that the version on TI's site is the same as the one Brandon had? If so it's buggy as hell from what I read. I would *HOPE* that they fixed any issues before releasing it. >_>

Bugs != incompatibilities

Anyway, this is the only way of persuading my math teacher to use more powerful calculator software. She won't trust/allow ANY third-party stuff. Sad...

I know that bugs != incompatabilities... But not only is it buggy but xlib and omnicalc will not work, as well as others.

I just seem to remember reading that there were a bunch of odd bugs. I wasn't referring to any of the compatibility issues, but as far as I remember they seem a bit minor (as far as BASIC goes). In regards to ASM I'm not sure. I heard they added some BCALLS, but I'm not sure the extent of what they did.
