So far things are still going pretty well in terms of TI-83+ series releases, even if all forums activity including here seems to abruptly go up and down (eg the crazy last week then everyone vanishes suddenly). This is the amount of POTY choices since 2003 for the 83+ series, the number in parhenteses excluding retro features:

2003: 8
2004: 20
2005: 7
2006: 8
2007: 5
2008: 0
2009: 7
2010: 18 (5 are retro features)
2011: 8
2012: 15 (4 are retro features)

68K
2003: 17
2004: 47
2005: 24
2006: 5
2007: 3
2008: 2
2009: 4
2010: 10 (3 are retro features)
2011: 2
2012: 0

Nspire isn't accurate, since a lot of authors didn't release their stuff on ticalc.org, meaning no chance to make front page:
2010: 6
2011: 7
2012: 3

Nspire voting is up!

Vote between gpSP-Nspire (gpSP Game Boy Advance emulator ported to the Nspire) and Multi(language)Periodic (periodic table)!

Anyway, voted.

Yeah, no 68K/PC stuff D: (although aside from TokenIDE, there isn't much needed anymore for the PC that needs to be made and stuff that still gets updated was already featured in the POTY surveys once before (and can't be twice), not to mention even if PixelScape was featured, the only way to make the POTY was if a copy was zipped and uploaded in Ticalc.org archives so people can run it offline.

Next year I might try to submit MCL (computer programs are allowed, right?) or a secret project I've been working on :P.

@Art_of_camelot yeah it's pretty much dead. D: Kinda like the TI-86. And @Spyro nope they only accept calc-related stuff. if you got a program for Windows, for example, that helps 83+ development, then it will get accepted.

As for Nspire stuff, the only reason why the POTY selection is so poor this year is because most TI-Planet members (which forms the majority of Nspire programmers in the community) don't upload their work anywhere else than TI-Planet. Ticalc.org does not include programs in the POTY unless they are present in their own archives. Hopefully that mentality changes over the time, since ticalc.org, while dwindling in news popularity, is still by far the main hub of the community for download archives.

EDIT: Ticalc.org added The Squares do not Die, as they forgot to add it. It was added very close to the cutoff date. This means there are 3 ticalc.org Nspire entries (the latter which was uploaded very late)

Err... seriously... is this selection a joke ? . . .

Nothing against gpSP which does deserve to win to my advice, but there have been huge TI-Nspire programs this year, which required countless hours of work like gpSP and should at least have had the right to compete.

I'm not going to vote for this ridiculously meager poll that only takes into account what they newsed about (oh, yeah, btw, that happens every 45th of each month, or so.).
(no offense for the authors of the 3 programs up there, they're awesome)

I don't want to spend some more time discussing this, but I believe this is kind of some lack of respect towards those who have taken lots of time to create things for the Nspire platform.
And it's a coincidence that I'm also one of the co-author of a program that should be with the choices. I'd have said the same since "3" options is just ridiculous.

If they cared about providing quality (for the POTY, at least !), they should have asked nspire-knowledgable people from the rest of the community in order to decide what to put as choices.

Don't care if I get downvoted for this, it's what I think.

EDIT : with this happening, how could we even consider "respecting" the POTY anymore ? It has strictly no value ! That's like making a website on my own, making a poll with only my programs and awading myself for being the best, everytime.

Yes, I was thinking to FormulaPro indeed but not only.
Linux, nSDL and Ndless 3.1 (which is a completely different program than Ndless 2.0) too.

I won't mention my own programs, but...

Ndless 3.1 was featured though. Maybe ticalc's policy is not to nominate a program that already won a poll.

Well, it's not just a "revision", it's huge changes compared to the version that won previously...
I'd have at least voted for Ndless 3.1 if it were there.

Adriweb and Critor: Read my post above carefully. :P

I'll re-say it: The main criteria to be eligible for Ticalc.org POTY is that your program must be uploaded in ticalc.org archives. Notice how for example nDoom and SourceCoder were newsed about years ago, yet they never got listed? That's why.

I believe that rule was instated in order to make sure that ticalc.org remains the main source for program downloads. Also back in the days, most sites would never stay online for more than 3 years (Omnimaga included, which closed for 6 months once), so it was probably also an attempt at preventing stuff from getting lost forever. It might also be an attempt to prevent another calc archives to try to compete directly with ticalc.org as the #1 file archives, like back in the TI-Files and Calc.org days.

Also programs can't be nominated more than once. The same thing happened with TiLP a few years ago. Otherwise TiLP would have won the POTY three times, which would have been unfair.

Well, now that ticalc is just popular because of its historical aspect (and certainly not the news...), it may be good for them to move on and amend this rule ;)
Staying in your own corner won't help/encourage the community...

(Oh, BTW, mViewer and FormulaPro were uplaoded on ticalc)

Actually it's still very popular for files, as most stuff still get hundreds of downloads every week in the top 25 sometimes. And a lot of people upload their stuff there and not here/Cemetech, not to mention TI-Planet's main language (including system files such as "connexion", "inscription", "téléchargements") isn't English, which might turn some people away.

Unless TI-Planet is really intended to directly compete with ticalc.org and phase it out (or that it's due to one or many staff or practices there)? (which might bring him a bad reputation among the older community members, although that could possibly do like the TI-Files days and prompt ticalc.org to start adding new features to compete, but then we would get the unnecessary site wars like back in the days, and right now the war with that one other French site was already enough)

Regardless, you could always try to send the suggestion to their e-mail, though.
