Tutorial section now open
« on: July 28, 2011, 06:12:05 pm »
A while ago, we opened a Tutorials section on the site, but it needed a staff member to move one's tutorial from a thread in the forum to the section. But now you'll be delighted to learn that everyone above 40 posts can post a new tutorial there! It will work much like the downloads section, anyone above 40 posts can submit a tutorial which must be approved by staff, members above 1000 posts gets auto-approved, forum rules still applies and authors of existing tutorials can edit their own tutorials.

We also recommend you to create a new topic in the forums when you create a new tutorial, it's not automatic yet.

Have some fun now ;)

By the way, assuming Juju for example copies the code from previous tutorials, he can actually edit your tutorial to fetch its content directly from a topic post on the forums, so if several updates are planned, you just have to edit the topic content, not the tutorial, since both can be linked.

Regardless, I recommend making topics when you submit tutorials, because no new topic are automatically created when you do so and the tutorials won't appear in the latest uploads list, so nobody might even notice your tutorial has been approved.

(I was supposed to add this this month, but then I retired from my semi-staff functions)

If fact, it worked since yesterday, but only made a news now...

Also DJ_O wanted to make this work before he quits, seems he didn't had time. (Oh ninja'd.)

Also maybe there's a way to create a new topic on creation, like the downloads section. I'll look at this...

One cool thing would be if the latest articles EzBlock could be copied the same way I did with the DL one and be modified so it shows latest articles in a similar way as latest files.
