Vuurrobin RPG update and Spencer's Zelda progress

Vuurrobin from UnitedTI has posted progress about his BASIC RPG, along with many more information and an animated screenshot!
"after I kind of let it die, I have decided get back working on it.
I have a few ideas I want to try out.
one of those ideas was to have basic homescreen animations while you walk (like moving npc and flikering fire).
I have made a program explaining what I mean (and to try out a few other ideas)and I have an animated screenshot. (although it looks better oncalc, somehow the flikering fire looks real bad)
here is the program.

send RAM to ram and archive to archive and run prgmRPGDEMO
map, items and magic doesn't work yet and they will probably result in a error.
when the stars move across the screen, you are suposed to battle but I editted it out since I am changing it.
dont look at the code, it is really a mess .
what I want to know from you guys (and girls, if there are any) :
should I include the animation? AFAIK it hasn't been done yet. but is it the speed and memory worth.
and what about a cooking system. would you like it or hate it.
I have swiched to resource because it is more flexibel than flash gorden.
any reaction is welcome."

Also spencer from Revsoft has recently started working on the world map routine, which will use a style similar to Zelda on the Super Nintendo (with some perspective).

While it isn't meant for walking engine use here is what it gives on the world map!
You can read more details about it here:

That RPG might turn out to be one of the more ambitious BASIC (ASCII) RPG's. And.. Spencer's work is amazing!

Frickin' pseudo 3d graphics! >:O
xlibman, you should sue, Vuurrobin is ripping graphics from your illusiat series.
Hehe, that game looks like it's gonna be one of the good basic games too.

ROFL, well there isnt a lot of ascii chars compared to the millions of possibilities with sprites
but I am amazed by how people can make good looking maps with ascii

Character layering is still better than spriting in terms of memory, and there are a lot of good combos.
But that 2.5D map routine looks amazing.
