Watch compressed videos on your TI-Nspire!
« on: March 07, 2012, 02:47:00 pm »
A while ago, Apcalc released nPlayer, an uncompressed video player for the TI-Nspire. Today, Tangrs goes one step further with Nspire Movie Player!

The difference with this new player over nPlayer is that it supports JPEG compression, which means that your videos are now considerably smaller than their nPlayer counterparts. Quote from the author:

Today, I managed to incorporate JPEG compression into my program and I'm happy to say, I have managed to bring the file size of a movie file from ~131.84MB per minute (sequential raw bitmaps at 15fps) to a measly ~2.86MB per minute (sequential JPEGs at 15fps).

Basically, you can probably fit half an hour of anime, movie or video game gameplay on your calculator!

Nice! I wonder if it works with the non CX models (the one with the touchpad is the one I have so im wondering if it'll work with that as well)
Loved this place, still the best producers of power metal, and sparked my dreams of coding.

Will sound be a possibility? I know some portable music players have similar ports as certain calculators, but it seems a lot of work would have to be done, and the file size of the movie would become too large. I admit I would be content with just video.
What is truth?

The likelihood of that is really low currently.  There isn't any way to output sound.  There used to be a print() function before OS 3.1 that if you hooked a speaker to the bottom port, there would be very crude sound, but it's gone now
You just lost the game.

Because that's a 'RickRoll'.
You Rickroll someone by giving him a link, that he thinks leads to something else(for example to something he's been looking a long time for). So he is expecting something good/nice but get rickrolled instead.

I personally really like the song.

I think that's an effect of rickrolling being old and not as popular anymore, so it occurs less often, meaning it's easier for people to miss out on rickrolling.

I remember several years back i clicked the home icon on a xat chat (if you know what that is) and it instead linked to a pop up with the rick roll.  Problem was, the pop up would disappear and reappear in random places around the screen, fast enough that you couldn't click out of it no matter what.  It scared the sh** out of me since I thought it might be a virus.  It wasn't and I got rid of it through command prompt.
You just lost the game.
