While we are waiting after Netham45 rewriting OmnomIRC (http://ourl.ca/13372), alberthrocks (who have his server linked to our IRC network OmniNet) set us up a webchat so you can access IRC and chat with us even behind the most restrictive firewalls, like you used to do while OmnomIRC was up.
You can already notice a new link (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=24) in the navigation bar below the Omnimaga logo (which will fill your username in for you and is integrated in the website) or you can access it on http://webchat.omnimaga.org/.
-
I realized that XD
-
I like. And this one's a real IRC client :o
It's not as easy-to-use as Omnom was because it's not there on every page, but on the other hand pages load faster now :D
-
I found the critical error in the IRC D:

Why is Netham45's name not pink!
-
Looks pink to me.....
Also, I know of firewalls that could block omnom. They just blocked omni altogether :P
-
Yay! It's great to have an alternative. Unfortunately, there aren't as many people using it, sot it's much quieter. :\
EDIT: Hey, this post is in the right topic now. :P

It's a good thing that they probably don't block withg too, which is where the webchat is hosted :D

You might want to check for cross-browser compatibility, because this feature doesn't work in Opera. Instead it just gives a weird nick with random chars. Otherwise that seems nice.
-
Are you on the page http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=24 ? The one hosted on webchat.omnimaga.org can't access your account info.
-
Yes. I tried both actually.
-
It saves your last used nick in a cookie, so if you used webchat.omnimaga.org first and it gave you a random nick and you signed in, p=24 would remember it.
-
/me is happy!
Any idea when the normal OmnomIRC will be back?

I've did some independent tests myself at school (PortableApps ftw), and found no such issues. (I rarely use Opera, btw, so this was the first time it was exposed to the WebIRC. :P)

The version I used was 11.51, which seems to be the latest. I would suggest clearing your cache (and possibly cookies), then trying again. Hopefully it'll work this time :)
(And yes, that is CSI work you're seeing. Ironic, eh? :P)

This.
-
Oh wait it saves the IRC nick, not the forum one, I thought it was supposed to automatically choose my nick from the forum one ???. That explains why I thought it wasn't working then ???
-
If you've visited that page before and used a particular nick, it saves that one. If you've never used it before (if the cookie doesn't exist), p=24 will grab your forum nick and convert illegal characters to underscores.

I just realized that omni radio was in bottom of irc XP

I just added it, glad you like it there :)
-
oh good!
I was about to blame myself again for lack of noticing skill :P

I think there's a bug with it. When I clcik stop and then play It always starts playing at the same song.(and displays 'Euro Blast from the Past no matter which song').
-
I have a optimization idea: I would make the courser to pointer when you hover over the arrows.
-
/me too!
Wow, I just realized Omnom's back O.O

Did you clicked Pause?

No. I clicked stop. After that I was clicking all buttons :P

Hm, withg is blocked here so this doesn't work, and neither does omnom b/c http omni is blocked x.x
Works great at home tho ;D

I suspect that your school district is doing a domain name block - not my subdomain, but the main one (*.us.to), like how my school blocks all *.tk websites. (I'm lucky my school hasn't discovered FreeDNS yet... :P) It's unlikely that they've blocked my IP though... If they did, that's not fair! :P
A remedy to this is to buy a domain name, which I am planning to do. :) Unfortunately, the domain I want is being held by a domain name troll... :P

What's weird is removedfromgame used to be blocked, and now it isn't. Idk what's up with the system :P
-
Also the webchat moved to http://57o9.org:3989/, the http://webchat.omnimaga.org/ URL is also supposed to work as soon as the DNS refreshes. Now with NickServ authentication! (That was one reason why we moved the webchat to my server, the other being that withg.us.to died.)

If your district uses BlueCoat K9, you can thank me. I contacted them and requested they un-label img.removedfromgame.com as "Games" ;) Did the same with EeeZor and a few other calculator sites that were varied enough that I could claim they didn't belong under that category.
-
We're using something called LightSpeed Systems, tho the internet's horrible there so that's how it goes I guess.
Maybe it's a network of blocker companies?
-
My college uses SonicWall or something like that, the only thing they block is pretty much porn websites and stuff like that. They aren't as restrictive as other blockers. We're even surprised they didn't blocked 4chan.
-
At college we could visit porn sites in computer classes and were even allowed to, as long as we did it respectfully (eg if the person next to you didn't like or if he was underage, you had to close the page). In hi school, however, if we ever got caught doing so, I think we were banned for the entire school year from computer classrooms. The only blocked things (during the 2nd year) were .zip files, which gave a 403 forbidden error, so people stop downloading NES ROMs.
Also thanks Juju for moving the Webchat. It's best it's on a stable server or hosted with Omni and the services.
-
Methinks http://www.omnimaga.org/irc/ should be removed now that it no longer works.
-
Well, what is nice with the new webchat is that it works even if IRC (port 6667) is blocked, unlike the Java chat.
-
Yep, I like.

Arrgggh... my VPS provider really, really does not know how to keep my server alive :P I'll have to move it someday when I get time.
+1 to Juju for the move - it would be more stable on your server than mine... at least for now. ;)
-
You could just change the /irc to point to the new webchat.
-
Methinks that would be a good idea, if we're not going to revive the Java applet.

That thing is old O.O. I am surprised it even worked for many years. I am also surprised I even kept it online before leaving my admin position. I think IRC should point to Webchat or maybe even mibbit.
