Looks very nice. It still has the Opera bug causing the text area (where you type) to be very small to the right, though.

Opera is the bug actually. I'm not going to officially support presto or trident (Old opera or IE). When opera finally switches to webkit you'll be fine (or as fine as webkit can get)

They did actually with Opera 15. It now uses Chrome's engine. However, it's a total piece of garbage because they removed every feature that made people use Opera over other browsers. Also, by basically becoming a Chrome "shell", it means no more menu bar (the only reason why I hate Chrome), no more speed dial, no more mouse gestures (although I hated them) and no more bookmarks. It received harsh criticisms due to that and many people made jokes calling it Chropera or said that Opera 15 signs the demise of Opera.

I have been relunctant to switch for that reason and instead upgraded from Opera 12.15 to 12.16 .

Opera 15 is still in beta, so they will probably bring all the old features back. I don't want to support presto officially because it is going away and it would require a lot of extra work. I don't want to officially support Trident because... well it's IE, so eww. I'll make an unofficial compatibility plugin to try to address issues for everybody, but I wont guarantee that it will work.

Actually nah Opera 15 was released. When I opened Opera a few days ago, it started nagging me to upgrade to 15. It's possible that they just went the TI way of releasing softwares, though: By releasing stuff earlier with less features then adding more later (like how the Nspire used to lack several features and the 84+CSE has many bugs).

Right now Opera 15 is basically a Chrome theme.

What we need is a browser that is stable (which isn't Firefox's case), has a classic menu bar or a widget to add one (which isn't Chrome/Opera 15 case), supports web standards properly (which isn't IE case), loads page fast (which isn't IE/Safari case). >.<

Firefox never crashed for me since I switched from Chrome (it's been a few weeks).

Actually I disable the menu bar to gain screen height in Firefox. :P This is actually not a problem for me since I use keyboard shortcuts a lot. Also the Mac version of Chrome had a menu bar so I think it's possible to add it on Windows/Linux (maybe a build option for Chromium ?).
supports web standards properly (which isn't IE case)
Who uses IE anyway ?

Same as above. Only lazy Mac users use Safari. BTW Safari uses WebKit which is the same engine as Chrome/Chromium as Apple are the main maintainers of it currently.

I have no idea why you think Firefox isn't stable. I run the nightly builds (which should be the least stable) and I have no issues with it whatsoever. The only time it crashes is when I do something bad with a script.

Almost everytime I access a broken link, the browser hangs during 30 seconds before displaying the page cannot be found message. Same thing happens on the 1st working page I try to open after starting Firefox the first time after a reboot (I had this happen on both my computers (Intel core i7 2.8 GHz with 8 GB of RAM and Intel Celeron 2.9 GHz with 1 GB of RAM) since versions 2.x although it used to be worse (back then even the mouse cursor would stop moving). My bro also had problems on his core duo.

It also likes to freeze randomly for absolute no reason from time to time on Youtube. It always eventually works fine again without having to kill the process (unlike before version 3.x) but it's still annoying.

Personally I haven't had any of those problems, except maybe youtube acting up but that's b/c of garbage wifi, and flash turning into depreciated garbage :P
"Page not found" errors pop up almost instantly for me, and I even have errorzilla installed.

One thing I'm thinking is that whenever a site doesn't load, Firefox uses so much resources to try to find it (because it tries to load pages so fast) that this is what causes the freezing. If Youtube or Omnimaga suddenly becomes slow, then Firefox hangs (sometimes it takes less time than 30 seconds actually). Not sure why this only happens to me, though, considering I tried on two computers. I doubt it's a virus because whenever I re-install Windows Firefox is the 1st thing I install then run (usually to check if it became faster and more stable) and I usually go on Youtube and other browser sites such as Opera and stuff to download them too. All I know is that Firefox issues became more rare, but still occurs often enough to annoy me, which sucks, since I like the interface, speed and I rarely got rendering issues in it.

Also from what I recall, Opera is supposedly the browser that follows web standards more strictly than others. However, this can cause many things that works in Chrome and Firefox (since they're more lax) to not work in Opera, and web developers don't bother making their sites compatible because Opera's market share is too small (about 1%).

god no, Opera doesn't follow standards better then everybody else. It's still far behind Chrome and Fx.

Strange. I guess what I read was from a few years ago then. But again, it's hard to trust anything you read (or even tests) regarding browser, because everyone has a bias towards one browser or the other, so some people will claim that Firefox is ahead, while others will claim that Opera is (or even Chrome in some cases). That's what fanboyism (and in some case, money, when a company have deals with Firefox or whatever) have done to the browser scene. >.<

I'm thinking Opera used to be ahead, but in recent years the staff saw it was clear they would never be able to gain a better market share, so they stopped bothering then released fewer and fewer updates, tested less (although recent versions have been more stable than Opera 10.x

That said, I'm thinking it would be unfair to single out several users who are either stuck with IE10 or prefers it or Opera 12.16 to anything else and to force them to switch to browsers they hate when many other sites still supports several versions of browsers. Granted, I wouldn't say to continue supporting Opera 12.16 after Chropera gets old features or extensions to emulate them back, but I mean not immediately dropping Opera 12.16 support right after Opera 15 release (which happened already). Or if you absolutely want to, you should maybe ask other admins in the staff forum if you should drop Opera 12 support for next OmnomIRC builds. After all, when Netham45 created OmnomIRC, he tried to make it compatible with every browser including Opera (which he uses sometimes) and the only support he dropped was IE8 and older, while still allowing partial IE9 support.

Anyway that's up to you or the staff I guess, if you want to force Opera 12 users to upgrade to something they are not comfortable using. OIRC3 is very nice and stuff but I guess if OIRC3 is incompatible to the point of being unuseable/too annoying to use you'll just see me less often on OmnomIRC after OIRC3 comes out.

Else I guess I could just switch back to Avant browser, now that it also supports Chrome and Firefox engines, but will that bring me back my classic menu bar? (Ok I understand some people might have gotten used to Chrome's menu style, but when Chrome arrived you guys were about 13-15 years old. It's much harder for older people like me to get used to changes)

Your passive aggressive tactics will not work on me.

I have added html5shiv, which was my plan initially. I'm not going to do any testing to make sure that unsupported browsers actually work with html5shiv enabled. The community can do that and make pull requests.

I'm not intending to be aggressive in any way so I am sorry if I did, I'm just saying if Omnom becomes incompatible with the only browser I'm comfortable using, then I won't use it as much (at least for now, since if it actually works I might get used to the small textarea, as that's how small it is under SAX anyway). There's always IRC, I can wait until a new browser version I can stand (such as an Opera 15 update not done the TI way) comes out or continuing getting used to less crowded UI's (the latter will take a few more years). That said, it's not like if the smaller textarea field was that intrusive for me anyway, since that's how small it is in SAX and I used SAX for a few years. But as I said, that's your choice.

What are pull requests btw? Are they just feature requests? No clue what is html5shiv either >.<

Also regarding themes, do you think the alternating line colors will be fixed for the dark themes such as Omnimaga v3? With the current version of OmnomIRC, it alternates between light blue and gray. >.<

Also no MLP theme as default theme <_< (assuming themes are independent from forum themes)
