BASIC RPG [Title TBD]
« on: June 16, 2006, 08:18:00 am »
Hey guys, i should have posted this here ages ago.

I figured that since i made xLIB, i may as well use it :)smile.gif. Therefore im going to make a relatively short RPG in BASIC with it. More of a small demonstration i guess ... plus ive never made a BASIC game before!

Here is a very early screenshot:

Thats the speed it should be on the BE, it runs really nice on an SE :)smile.gif.

lol when you told me you were making a BASIC game I was like o.oblink.gif because you have been coding ASM for 2-3 years and no basic at all, then you make a BASIC game XDsmiley.gif I like the work put in the tiles and sprites and it seems to run pretty fast even with animated  maps. I hope to see this finished ^^

EDIT: I think you should have the 1337 sword included in the game (*points to Necro avatar on MC*)

I second the 1337 sword. ^^

The screenshot is nice and fast; I would suggest making the more  sand sprites so the beach edge is smoother, if that doesn't take up too much memory.
Keep up the good work. :)smile.gif
One of these days I'll get a sig I'm really proud of.

You mean smoother as in where the water meets the beach? I will be doing that, hopefully i will have enough tile space left (i hate corners :)smile.gif).

hehe that reminds me RL3, lot of square areas/corners, etc. I kinda solved this with reuben quest but it takes lot of sprites o.oblink.gif and I yet have to fix this with Metroid too, altough I dunno if I'll do it (over 100 maps to edit) :knight:knight3.gif

your maps still look cool though

Well now that i actually have an 83+ compatible calc i will be able to work on this easier. Ive been thinking about how battles will work ... it will be a little different than some rpgs :)smile.gif.

Yeah I remember you talked to me about it, and yea it will be much easier to code on calc I think, no need to send in emulators, test, debug, resend to emu, test, debug, etc :Ptongue.gif
