QUOTE (xlibman @ 7 Oct, 2006, 14:34)
Will the app be released under GPL like Omnicalc btw?

Well, probably not GPL, but we'll see.  I am not quite sure it will be under a specific license besides copyright license.  Again, I am okay with people using little pieces of code only if credit is given and I don't mean in small print at the end of the readme.  I mean in the code and in the readme.

As for asking Kerm for the routines, I think I better not as of right now.  Like you said, he has DoorsCS and might be a little territorial and I don't blame him for that.  In fact, I repect that as it would be what I would do as well.  I think I can handle finding out all of the Mirage functions...however, it will take time.  So that is why I am planning on only supporting the most used ones and then another version (or update) would have the remainder.

Thanks for the feedback.

that sound like a good deal. personally I like if ppl give me credits if they use code of mine, and preferably ask me permission first if its a game I released in the past 12 months..

oh yeah I was gonna tell you about the forum signature system as I noticed you kept posting your link in every posts x.x but now you have a sig so you shouldnt have to post the signature manually in every posts, especially considering I made the forum so guests can view signatures and avatar as well ;)wink.gif

Ya, I finally figured that if I am going to posting a lot to the 4 forums this topic is in, I better make a signature at each to save some typing.  Here are the other sites this topic is being discussed at in case anyone cares.

Also, I am sure something will start up at the SPS forums.

yeah I hope this give some activity to suipsyso as well. I noticed you used z80 revelation skin tho O_Oshocked2.gif or is it Forumer default skin (i think they have few options)?

http://tifreaks.8.forumer.com - note thats an inactive forum I used to be staff here with Spengo, Dragon__Lance, NanoWar, Shadow Phoenix and lloydkirk1989 but it died and now its filled with spambot posts :(sad.gif quite ironic that before dying the forum had 50 members and now it has 500

I wonder if it would also get some responses at http://tifreakware.ath.cx and http://hrp.myfastforum.org too? And anyone remember the URL to MC forums I don't even remember it. Maybe ppl here would be interested in it as well if you are looking for more forums, I dunno. Anyway keep up the good works!

No, it is just one of the skins there.  I think it is called charcoal or something along those lines.  Actually, I think George (one of our members) picked it when we set up the forum.  I don't think we get enough traffic to get spambots, but we'll see.

well usually spambots spam dead forums, and if the post arent deleted more spambots come. We at Omnimaga recently got a serious spambot attack (around 30 in the summer) if it didn't stopped you would not even have been able to post here cuz regisration system was about to be disabled completly so you would have had to email me so I register an account for you :Swacko.gif . I deleted all their accounts a while ago, now hence why your member id is 205 while the entire forum only have 130 members

This is why dead forums tend to get spambots attack more, cuz no one is here to delete them. I'm glad it stopped lately I hope you wont get spammed too :Ptongue.gif , I know MaxCoderz, UTI, Cemetech and Revsoft got similar problems in the past

btw even though I'm not a big fan of geoshitties I love the SPS website a lot, I dunno why but i like the scheme and design

Well, I'm not a big fan of 'geoshitties' either, but that's where our website first started and sometimes it is good to stick to your roots.  I was planning on having our own domain name (for free, of course) through Microsoft Office Live, but they don't allow your own coding.  You have to do it using their webpage maker (which I don't like) as our webpage was hand coded HTML.  I have tried other free domain name sites, but most seem to suck.  Oh well.  But thanks for the compliment.  I love black and 'the special red' which is my own concoction.  LOL.  Anyway, thanks.

yeah i agree not changing URLs all the time is good sometimes, we got through so many urls that now I'm not even willing to buy a domain name anymore, and even less after the Rivereye studio incident

first: geocities didnt offered enough space and disallowed remote linking, second freewebpage was slow as hell and had a huge pop up, third, UTI back then only offered 10 MB of space, then I kv83 server went down and I wasnt here so i couldnt know about it, and earthforge got trouble as well adn expired for a while so now I am on UTI again since it offer more space, and I got a dyndns.org subdomain for the forums

First and foremost, thank you all for your much appreciated feedback.  That is exactly what I wanted and needed.  I received a lot of feedback from all 4 or 5 forums this topic was listed on.  After a couple of weeks thinking about what everyone has said and also about what is best for me right now, I have sadly decided to discontinue this project until further notice.  I really hate to do this because, for me, it is admitting failure.  But I don't believe I have a choice.  Work and school are only becoming more time consuming (especially school) and the pressure and stress of it all has builded to no end.  Something must get pushed to the side, and unfortunately, it is BES.  I really loved programming it and I hate to quit.  But it is wrong for me to keep hoping and dreaming it will be done and that is not fair to the TI community.

Lastly, some of the features I was trying to incorporate were either A) Someone else has already incorporated those into another shell (like Kerm Martian with DoorsCS...no offense Kerm, love what you've done with the shell) or B) Some people think it makes the shell 'cluttered' or they think it is not needed.  Unfortunately, it seems my dream (to finish BES, the ASM version) has been washed away by the waves of time and may possibly never return to the sandy beach where it belonged.  I am sorry to anyone who counted on me for this, but you must understand, it is what is best for me and the community (because I will no longer be getting anyone's hopes up or anything like that).  Again, I am sorry, but this is what I must do.

Good luck and I will be checking in from time to time to say hello or maybe help out with some ASM or something.  Keep in touch.  I am also willing to help out BASIC programmers who need an 'ASM function' (which basically just controls something in ASM that BASIC just cannot do).  Since those don't take much time, I can probably squeeze them in here and there.  Just drop me an e-mail ([email protected]).  Thanks and sorry again.

sry to see this project go :(sad.gif but i truly understand that school, real life and in some cases work must be put first, calc stuff shouldnt take priority over the rest, otherwise this can cause trouble. I hope to see you around again in the near future though :)smile.gif

Yes.  I am taking 16 credit hours of classes (which doesn't include the roughly 3 hours of homework per credit hour of class), working 32 hours (in 3 days I might add), tutoring for about 6 hours (in C/C++ at school), seeing my girlfriend (which is never enough), and still managing to find a little time to sleep.  So, like you said, real life must be more of a priority right now.  Thanks for understanding.
