The Neo Geo Pocket Color is a 16 bit handheld that came out during the time of the gameboy to compete with it in the hand held market. I figure the NGPC is a bit more powerful then the Gameboy Color, so I'm sure it should be easily handled on the TI series of calculators. However, I do not know for certain or if there is even a emulator already out.

Which calculator(s) in the series? The Nspire and the 89 could probably handle it. The 83 definitely couldn't. The 84+ and 84+ SE *might* be able to handle emulation at reasonable speeds, but I wouldn't bet on it. Doing sound is probably out of the question for those calcs, though.

Well, I'm assuming there isn't an emulator out there for any type of calculator?

Not that I'm aware of. It's not a particularly well known hand hold and didn't have too many games available,

It has a total of 85 games if the information I have read is correct. Some of them are incredible games to be enjoyed, it definitely was one of, if not, my favorite handheld console.

Here is an open source emulator that might be the starting point for some one : http://www.emuxhaven.net/~neopop/ .

Well, which calculator(s) would you want an emulator on? The difficulty of writing an emulator depends greatly on the similarity of the underlying hardware.

PS: The original Game boy had 691 games on it, for comparison...

EDIT: The instruction set is pretty similar to the z80. That might be possible.

Well I guess seeing as Gameboy Color games seem to run great on the TI Nspire, I would more then likely also want to play Neo Geo Pocket games on that as well.
The Neo Geo has 1 less button then the GBC, I don't know if that is of any help.

An nspire emulator is quite possible, but i dunno about one for a TI-89, it will probably be too slow.

Well there's an original game boy emulator (84pse/84p/84pse) and a gbc emulator (nspire with ndless 2.0?) so it might be possible.

looking at the specs, it would be best done on an Nspire CX or a Prizm, probably the prizm since the Nspire only has Lua.

I doubt this would be possible.  It has two different processors running at different clock speeds, each with unique memory available for access.  One processor is 16 bit, and the other is 8 bit.  The 16 bit runs 2MHz faster than the GameBoy, and the 8 bit runs 1MHz slower.  Color is palette-based, so grayscale rendering routines would be significantly more complex.  Anything less than an Nspire would not be able to do it without question, and the Nspire would have trouble, not even mentioning the extreme effort involved in emulating a system like this.  There is also a BIOS underneath the covers that provides games with routines and information, which (with my limited amount of research) tells me that there is probably a complex memory mapping system to allow for it to be accessible by both processors.

Would be a fun project though.

Hmmm, hopefully it could work out, would love to relive playing some of my favorite games for that system.

On the Z80 line: No, 68k: Extremely unlikely. Nspire: maybe. It might also be doable on Casio's Prizm line.
