Can we just have the community vote like for cage matches?  it'd make things a lot simpler, and if its a tie, you break it?
Yeah I agree. Personally, I think next year if I do another contest I'll try to only have polls. It's much less work. I could maybe have them so people vote for best graphics, then gameplay, then controls/useability, and so on.

I'm taking on yunhua and you alone.
Wow 1v2? O.O But I guess it's fine if the one going solo doesn't mind and if there is at least one team participating.

Good luck people!

I'll think about the judging some more and tell you my decision in a few days once I talk to ztrumpet and shmibs

i think raylin actually has the advantage here. though qwerty and yunhua can churn out twice as much code, debugging will be a major pain due to two potentially buggy sources than one

this can be a test to see which is better -- a solo run or a team of two

Ah ok sounds fair. :)

The good side of judging is that programs gets judged more in depth for the content rather than just if someone likes it. If LordConipiuter entry for the Axe contest had no bugs, it might have stood a huge chance during judging, but I am sure people who vote would have not voted for it just because the file is large. :/ In other words, with just a poll, for certain contest themes, it may be unfair. However, just a poll allows the community to voice their opinion easier than if judges decide who gets high score and who doesn't.

And yeah I agree this could maybe show if team work is better than solo or the opposite. With team work, the issue is that both people can be in different timezones and have different life schedule, so it's hard to stay in touch. Also it can be harder to decide what to add, if there's a disagreement on features. There are less chances of data losses, though, as there are 2x more backups (providing they make them).

Must the entire program be homescreen only or can we use the graph screen for menus and make the game itself homescreen only?

the menu can be on the graphscreen.

everthing having to do with the actual gameplay though MUST be on homescreen only.

This excludes the title screen, pause screen, and the highscores screen (though they CAN be on homescreen if you wish)

Okay, that makes everything a lot easier (and the final project better).

It'll be cool to see how you make units and stuff (or whatever you're doing for your strategy game) with ASCII :D
